About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead PHP Developer to join our dynamic team. This fully remote position offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development of both internal tools and client-facing WordPress projects. As a Lead PHP Developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced WordPress themes, plugins, and components. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior developers, ensuring adherence to best practices, and implementing security measures across all projects. This role requires a proactive mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Your expertise will help shape our technical direction and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of PHP and experience working with LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
  • Proven experience with Git version control
  • Strong understanding of modern PHP practices including autoloading, dependency management, object-oriented programming, and MVC architecture
  • Mid to advanced JavaScript skills, including modern practices, Webpack, Babel, and ES2015+ syntax
  • Ability to develop WordPress plugins and themes following industry best practices
  • Solid understanding of security best practices and implementation within WordPress
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong personal responsibility and time management skills
  • Experience working on team-based projects and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop new features, plugins, and advanced theme components within WordPress
  • Create internal tools to improve operational efficiency at Linchpin
  • Implement and maintain security best practices across all projects
  • Plan, conceptualize, and deliver projects including planning, estimating, development, testing, and quality assurance
  • Integrate third-party APIs with an emphasis on performance and security
  • Mentor junior developers and promote best coding practices within the team
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate them into project workflows
  • Contribute to open-source projects and participate in code reviews
