At Caterpillar’s Indonesia Batam, we manufacture Hydraulic Shovels products used in building the infrastructure and mining to move materials that makes a better world.

Caterpillar’s Manufacturing Analyst position works both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in product manufacturing.

As Manufacturing Analyst (Fabrication), you will apply engineering principles and practices toward improving manufacturing processes. You may be directly involved in the development and production process or provide advice and recommendations when needed. Experience shall consist of the design, application, or operation of welding facilities that fabricate welded products. Fabricated products may be covered by international, customer, or internal standards or specifications.

Work location: Batam, Kepulauan Riau

This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

You will work both in an office and manufacturing shop-floor environment.

Domestic relocation is available for this position.

What You Will Do

  • Read, understand, and relate the engineering drawings to the fabrication sequence and process.
  • Develop fabrication working instructions, covering lifting practice, ergonomics, workmanship standards, and process documents, and ensure they are followed.
  • Fully participate as required in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities where fabrication operations are required.
  • Adheres to established standards, policies, and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, Caterpillar Production System (CPS) transformation, etc., in performing assigned duties.
  • Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, jig/fixtures required, and production equipment.
  • Estimate fabrication times, taking control of requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Assigning tasks to technicians, monitoring teams to investigate failures, resolve technical issues, and ensure the integrity of the design.
  • Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations like new process design, and equipment justification to improve performance.
  • Propose and lead Green Belt fabrication improvement project through Six Sigma methodology.
  • Periodically review Design Drawings, Bills of Materials, and highlight deviations and changes faced in the fabrication of products.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What Skills You Have

  • Fluency in English.
  • University degree in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering-related degree.
  • 3D (3 Dimension) design proficiency using design software like Creo, SolidWorks, etc.
  • Able to read mechanical drawings and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning Tolerancing)
