ResponsibilitiesDevelop AI Models For Cardiology, With Emphasis On
Analysis of cardiac signals using advanced signal processing methods

Application of deep learning, transformers, foundational models, and generative AI approaches
Collaborate with clinical researchers and cardiologists to co-design and validate AI tools

QualificationsEducation
Master's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields
PhD is welcome (plus), but not required
Essential Knowledge And Professional Experience
3 to 5 years hands-on experience in deep learning applied to biomedical data, with emphasis on deep-learning, transformers and foundational models
Strong background in signal processing, particularly for biomedical signals such as cardiac data
Proven expertise in medical image analysis, preferably in cardiology or related healthcare domains
Solid programming skills (Python or similar) and use of deep learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Strong interest in developing healthcare applications with real clinical impact
Additional Knowledge And Professional Experience
Experience collaborating with clinical partners or working on healthcare datasets is an advantage
Familiarity with biomarkers or multimodal data integration is desirable
Fluency in English, Catalan, and Spanish
Competences
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams (engineers, clinicians, researchers)
ConditionsLocation: The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department
Contract: full-time contract (37.5h/week) with a good working environment, state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and relocation support
Duration: Open-ended contract due to project and budget duration
Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per collective agreement
Salary: competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and cost of living in Barcelona

The Process Consists Of Two Phases
Curriculum Analysis: evaluation of experience, degree, training, and other relevant information — 40 points
Interview phase: shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview to evaluate technical competencies, knowledge, skills and personal competencies — 60 points (minimum ***** to be eligible)
The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people with at least 25% women.
The process follows Open, Transparent and Merit-based Recruitment (OTM-R) principles.
