Senior Observability Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with our premier client in the financial services industry is seeking an Observability Engineer with deep technical expertise to join a performance-focused SRE team. This role sits at the intersection of DevOps, product development, and infrastructure—leveraging automation, telemetry, and hands-on coding to enhance system visibility and reliability.


What You’ll Do:

  • Lead efforts to improve monitoring posture across new and existing services.
  • Drive adoption and implementation of OpenTelemetry across product teams.
  • Support product launch readiness by ensuring observability tooling is fully deployed and functional.
  • Help teams troubleshoot logging issues and establish reliable log flows.
  • Work closely with performance engineers and platform teams to optimize system-level visibility.
  • Contribute code and automation to reduce toil and support scalable observability.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure compliance and consistency in observability practices.


Key Skills & Experience:

  • 6+ years of relevant IT experience, with recent focus in observability or performance engineering.
  • Strong understanding of OpenTelemetry and observability tooling.
  • Demonstrated coding ability (language-agnostic; Java, C/C++, Python, etc. all welcome).
  • Experience with cloud environments (cloud-agnostic preferred).
  • Experience with Elastic Stack and Grafana.
  • Hands-on experience deploying tooling and debugging telemetry/logging pipelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
