Job Description


Overview

The Director of Lifecycle Marketing is responsible for designing, executing, and optimizing end-to-end lifecycle marketing strategies that drive customer engagement, retention, and lifetime value. This role blends data-driven insights with creative execution to deliver personalized, timely, and high-impact communications across the full customer journey.


The position is both strategic and hands-on, owning lifecycle performance from acquisition through reactivation. Success in this role requires strong analytical rigor, deep marketing automation expertise, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure a seamless and consistent customer experience across all touchpoints.



Type: Direct hire, fully on-site M-F in Virginia Beach

Schedule: Regular day hours

Pay: $150,000 - $165,000 salary

Bonus: Up to 15% annual

Relocation: Up to $25,000




Director of Lifecycle Marketing Duties

  • Own and manage lifecycle marketing strategy across all customer stages, including acquisition, onboarding, engagement, retention, loyalty, and reactivation
  • Develop advanced segmentation and personalization strategies using behavioral, transactional, and demographic data to increase conversion, engagement, and lifetime value
  • Plan, execute, and optimize multi-channel lifecycle campaigns across email, SMS, in-app messaging, push notifications, owned channels, and paid retargeting
  • Analyze key performance metrics including churn, CLV, engagement rates, repeat purchase behavior, and conversion to identify growth opportunities
  • Lead ongoing A/B and multivariate testing to refine messaging, timing, creative, and channel mix for maximum impact
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, analytics, creative, brand, and performance teams to deliver a cohesive and consistent customer journey
  • Own and optimize marketing automation and CRM platforms to enable scalable, efficient, and data-driven campaign execution
  • Lead customer journey research and feedback analysis to continuously improve satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term retention
  • Design and evolve retention and loyalty programs that increase customer stickiness and reduce churn
  • Establish performance frameworks and KPIs tied to conversion, retention, engagement, and lifetime value



Director of Lifecycle Marketing Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in lifecycle, CRM, retention, or growth marketing roles
  • Proven ability to drive measurable improvements in customer retention, engagement, and lifetime value
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data visualization and analytics tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Google Analytics
  • Hands-on experience managing marketing automation and CRM platforms at scale, including tools such as Braze, Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, or Klaviyo
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customer-centric mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Full-time onsite or hybrid work required, with occasional extended hours during peak initiatives and periodic travel for meetings or events
