About Happen To Your Career:

At Happen to Your Career we are a small, rapidly growing company that believes in doing work you love and doing work within your strengths.

We value potential over experience and give high preference to those who are already familiar with our brand and how we help people live the life they want to!

Why we exist: To change the way the world does (and thinks about) work to allow humans to thrive.

How: We help individuals define what creates extraordinary work for themselves and the people around them - then make it happen!

The secret mission: Help enough people figure out and change to their “ideal career” so they can then help the organizations they lead, impact and work with to do the same! (This is bigger than all of us and we need an army of Happeners to accomplish this mission!).

Here’s What We Value In Our Company:

  • Be Ridiculously Helpful – We take care of our people… and their people too! We treat others like humans and we exceed expectations in every interaction.
  • Signature Strengths – We do what we are the best at and use our uniqueness and what we enjoy doing, we enable everyone around us do the same.
  • It’s Personal – We want every single touch to feel like we care – because we do!
  • One Life – We go for what scares us; we intentionally get outside our comfort zones and push ourselves and everyone we interact with for growth.
  • Leverage – We use technology and systems to do anything that a human doesn’t need to.
  • Give Pareto a hug – we fail often and fast and make mistakes early and are transparent about them. We remove what isn’t working and relentlessly seek out and prioritize the top 4% of what works; We call this out every opportunity!

Why You’ll Love Working With Us:

You get to establish the creative vision and obsess over it's delivery:

You're responsible for carefully crafting the strategy and vision that relentlessly serves the people we can best help and get to masterfully craft content that will captivate them, cause them to want more and ultimately change how they design their life and work.

Make Meaningful, Lasting Impact:

Our work changes lives. You’ll thrive here if you’re energized by helping people find work that truly fits them—and by building deep, long-term relationships with clients along the way.

100% remote, truly location-independent:

Our team is spread across the globe. Work from anywhere and design a lifestyle that supports both your professional goals and personal life.

Flexible Schedule, Built On Trust:

We care deeply about flexibility and autonomy. You’ll have the ability to shape your schedule around your life while meeting business needs and exceeding team goals.

Clear, Competitive Compensation:

  • $120,000-$185,000 annually.

If you’re excited about meaningful work, flexibility, and being part of a values-driven team, this role offers a rare combination of impact, autonomy, and support.

Required Experience (Must Haves):

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • 5+ years experience in podcasting, long-form content, or video based media.
  • 3+ years owning or leading editorial direction for a show or content brand.
  • 3+ years directly accountable for audience growth or performance metrics.
  • A proven track record of significantly growing a podcast or long form media.
  • Experience with founder-led or personality-driven content.
  • Experience Hosting and Interviewing in a video based format.
  • Experience managing producers, editors, or creative contributors.
  • A strong point of view on what makes podcasts grow—and why.

What Your Background Might Look Like:

You may have previously been:

  • An Executive Producer or Head of Content for a podcast with a track record of growth.
  • A Senior Producer who stepped into growth and editorial ownership.
  • A Content Director responsible for a flagship show.
  • A podcast consultant who led measurable improvements in growth and quality.

You Likely:

  • Have strong opinions—and can explain them.
  • Care deeply about craft and outcomes.
  • Think in systems, not one-off episodes.
  • Are comfortable holding a high bar, even when it’s uncomfortable.

You Should NOT Apply If:

This role is not for everyone - and that’s intentional.

Please Do not Apply If:

  • You’ve only worked on podcasts as a side project or hobby.
  • You prefer being handed clear instructions rather than owning outcomes.
  • You’re uncomfortable pushing back on founders or raising standards every week.
  • You focus more on output (“we shipped”) than impact (“it worked”).
  • You’re uncomfortable stepping in as an on camera host or personality.
  • You want to specialize only in production, editing, or scheduling.
  • You avoid metrics or believe growth should “just happen”.
  • You’re looking for a low-stakes, low-visibility role.

This role requires judgment, ownership, and conviction.

Why This Role Exists:

This role exists to hold the creation and production of The Happen To Your Career Podcast so that it continuously reaches more of the right people and perpetually strengthens the relationship with those people, all while teaching them how to thrive through work. The podcast is not “content.”

It is a core growth engine, trust builder, and belief creator for the business.

Every week, people listen, not just to learn, but to decide whether change is possible for them. That makes the podcast one of the most important ways we earn trust, create clarity, and invite meaningful action.

This role exists for 3 very specific reasons: These are also your Ownership & Accountability areas for our business:

To Create Captivating Content That Builds Long-Term Relationships - This role exists to ensure the podcast consistently delivers content that:

  • Engages the right listeners (our people or specific “target market”).
  • Earns increasing attention and trust over time.
  • Encourages listeners to return again and again as a resource.
  • Builds belief, clarity, and confidence - not just information.
  • Meets our PoP Content Standards.

We care deeply about engagement and retention, not vanity metrics.

To Grow Reach With Intention (In Service Of Our Cause) - Growth Is Not The Goal On Its Own. The Right Growth Is:

  • The podcast exists to reach more people who need what we do (and to assist in accomplishing our goals).
  • This role ensures the podcast:
  • Grows subscribers and new listeners within our target market.
  • Supports business goals through trust and visibility.
  • Expands reach without sacrificing depth, integrity, or clarity.

To Keep The Vision:

  • You are the keeper of the podcast’s vision. That means:
  • Protecting the purpose of the show when it’s tempting to chase trends.
  • Ensuring every episode aligns with what we want listeners to believe and do.
  • Holding a high bar for clarity, usefulness, and emotional resonance.
  • Saying no when something might perform—but doesn’t serve the mission or our people.
  • Your job is to ensure the podcast stays true, even as it grows.

Why This Role Matters:

When the podcast PoPs (Path-of-Possibility):

  • People believe change is possible.
  • They take meaningful action.
  • Trust compounds.
  • The business grows with integrity.

This role protects - and multiplies - that impact.

What You Will Own (No Gray Areas):

Podcast Growth (You Are Accountable):

You are directly responsible for audience growth.

This Includes:

  • Setting quarterly and annual growth goals.
  • Increasing:
    • Subscribers/followers.
    • Average downloads per episode.
    • Back-catalog listens.
    • Listener retention.
  • Understanding why episodes succeed or stall.
  • Turning winning episodes into repeatable formats, themes, or series.
You will not be handed a playbook.

You are expected to bring one, test it, refine it, and evolve it.

Editorial Direction & Episode Quality:

You are the final editorial checkpoint before anything ships.

You Ensure Every Episode:

  • Hooks listeners in the first 60 seconds.
  • Uses emotional storytelling to earn trust.
  • Shows the listener how (not just what).
  • Introduces at least one meaningful perspective shift (we call this mind bending messages).
  • Leaves the listener thinking: “This could work for me.”

You Will:

  • Shape episode concepts and angles
  • Push for rewrites or re-records when something doesn’t PoP (Path-of-Possibility)
  • Maintain consistency in tone, pacing, and depth
  • Proactively Prevent safe, generic, or surface-level episodes from shipping
  • Set the standards for video, audio and storytelling quality (and act as our resident expert on all)

Leading The Podcast Content Team:

You lead the people who make the podcast happen, which may include:

  • Content Product Manager.
  • Editors.
  • Writers / content strategists.
  • Contractors supporting production or repurposing.
  • Hosts - You’ll develop a cast of personalities as hosts and co-hosts (shifting away from the founder as the sole host of the podcast) - You’ll also participate as a continuous personality on the podcast.

You Are Responsible For:

  • Clear ownership and roles.
  • Strong, actionable creative feedback.
  • High standards without burnout.
  • Helping the team think like asset builders, not task executors.

You don’t do everything yourself.

You raise the bar for everyone else.

Protecting the QBR (or Queen Bee Role which is "Clockwork" Verbiage):

You are a direct owner of the QBR - the work that makes everything else matter.

This Means:

  • Protecting meaningful weekly time for:
    • Episode ideation.
    • Story development.
    • Teaching clarity.
    • Message refinement.
  • Removing friction that blocks great content.
  • Advocating for the focus and space required to do this work well.
If content quality slips, you take responsibility.

Turning Episodes Into Long-Term Assets:

You think beyond “publish and move on.”

You Ensure:

  • Episodes are designed to perform months and years later (Optimized so people continuously find these episodes and they are shared as resources well into the future)
  • Themes are intentionally revisited and built upon (it’s a continued conversation, not a brand new ep every time)
  • Back-catalog episodes are resurfaced strategically
  • High-performing episodes shape future content direction
  • Episodes are repurposed (Short form, testimonials, social media, additional episodes, books, etc.)
  • You’re creating episodes that add to the content / learning HTYC eco-system (not just one off episodes)

You understand that growth often comes from what already exists, not just what’s new.

Communication & Analytics (Obsessed—for The Right Reasons):

You obsess over clear communication and meaningful data.

You Care Deeply About:

  • What we’re actually teaching.
  • Whether listeners can apply it.
  • Whether the message lands the way we intend.

You track metrics that inform better judgment—not vanity numbers.

This Includes:

  • Episode retention curves.
  • Back-catalog lift.
  • Performance by theme or format.
  • Listener feedback and qualitative signals - You’ll respond (or work with other team members to repsond) to comments on Spotify & YouTube.
  • Growth tied to belief → action.

Analytics are a feedback loop, not a scoreboard.

You use data to sharpen instincts—not replace them.

How We’ll Know You’re Winning (6–12 Months In):

  • The podcast audience is growing consistently - 5x in 12 months on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
  • Episodes feel sharper, tighter, and more emotionally engaging (comments and shares have increased proportionately).
  • The content team is clear, confident, and executing at a high level.
  • Back-catalog performance improves.
  • Listener feedback reflects belief, clarity, and action.
  • The podcast feels like a strategic advantage, not a burden.
