Job Description

The Lead Brand Designer will shape Optimism’s visual identity, ensuring our brand and product stories are communicated clearly and compellingly. This role blends leadership with hands-on design work, driving high-impact marketing campaigns, evolving our brand library, and developing scalable design systems.


As a key creative partner to the Chief Growth Officer, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally to craft landing pages, campaign assets, and design kits that enhance engagement. You’ll manage contractors and FTE designers, providing both strategic direction and hands-on execution.

Thriving in ambiguity, you’ll move quickly, take candid feedback well, and work autonomously while maintaining brand integrity. This is a unique opportunity to define the visual language of a leading blockchain ecosystem and help scale Optimism’s presence in Web3.


What are the role responsibilities?

  • Visualize product stories in collaboration with the Chief Growth Officer
  • Develop modular Design Kits for high-output marketing campaigns
  • Create and maintain landing pages that align with brand strategy
  • Evolve and manage Optimism’s Brand Library for consistency and scalability
  • Lead and contribute to design execution, balancing strategy with hands-on work
  • Oversee contractors and FTE designers, ensuring high-quality output and efficiency


What skills do you bring?

  • Strong design fundamentals: mastery of layout, typography, and negative space for compelling visuals
  • Marketing collaboration: experience designing assets that align with campaigns and drive engagement
  • Brand adaptability: work within guidelines while evolving and maintaining consistency across touchpoints
  • Illustration skills: ability to translate concept illustrations into vector assets
  • Proficiency with design tools: expert in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
  • Creative leadership: manage contractors and FTE designers while maintaining high design standards
  • Thrives in ambiguity: comfortable making design decisions with incomplete information
  • Takes candid feedback well: iterates quickly based on constructive criticism
  • Operates with creative autonomy: moves fast while maintaining brand integrity
  • 3+ years of visual design experience: background in brand or marketing design
  • Bonus: Web3 experience: familiarity with Ethereum and decentralized ecosystems
