The Carbon Games is a grant-funded startup pushing the boundaries of XR technology by integrating it with real-world industrial applications. We’re working on projects that merge IoT, robotics, digital twins, and XR solutions to tackle challenges in energy operations, construction, and urban planning. If you're passionate about combining advanced technology with practical solutions, we’d love for you to join our team.
We’re seeking a part-time, contract/freelance XR Developer with expertise in Unity, IoT integration, and industrial protocols to join our remote team. You will play a pivotal role in developing next-generation XR solutions that integrate robotics workflows, real-time data visualization, and collaborative environments for industries like construction and energy. This role is fully remote but requires candidates to reside within the European Union.
- Design and implement XR solutions in Unity, focusing on industrial use cases such as construction site monitoring and energy operations.
- Integrate real-time IoT data from sensors and devices into digital twin environments.
- Develop and optimize XR features for robotics control and collaboration using frameworks like ROS2.
- Implement OpenXR for cross-platform compatibility.
- Incorporate industrial standards like OPC UA or BIM workflows for data interoperability.
- Optimize performance for standalone devices, especially Meta Quest.
- Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and performance tuning to deliver seamless XR experiences.
- Strong expertise in Unity and C# programming for XR development.
- Experience with IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT, OPC UA) and integrating real-time data into applications.
- Familiarity with ROS2 or other robotics frameworks for interaction with hardware systems.
- Knowledge of digital twins, including real-time synchronization and predictive analytics.
- Hands-on experience with OpenXR or other cross-platform XR frameworks.
- A portfolio showcasing your XR/VR/AR projects with links to samples (mandatory).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
- Experience with robotic simulators like Gazebo or Unity Robotics Hub.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, including Modbus or BACnet.
- Hands-on knowledge of AI or machine learning for predictive analytics in XR applications.
- Access to XR devices (e.g., Meta Quest 3, Varjo XR-4).
- Join projects that apply cutting-edge XR technologies to real-world challenges in construction, energy, and urban planning.
- Gain hands-on experience with advanced technologies like robotics, IoT, and digital twins.
- Work in a flexible, remote-first environment with a team passionate about innovation.
- Shape the future of XR by contributing to impactful, grant-funded initiatives that emphasize interoperability and scalability.
