You are a creative visionary with strong leadership skills and a passion for crafting visually stunning worlds. As Art Director, you will help shape unique visual experiences for PC and console players, collaborating closely with directors and leads while guiding a talented art team. You will ensure that visual standards are maintained while mentoring the team to produce high-quality content.
In this role you will:
- Lead and mentor an art team to create compelling concepts, environments, characters, animations, and UI, providing timely feedback.
- Elevate the visual standards, creating immersive worlds that align with the game’s narrative and fast-paced gameplay.
- Collaborate with directors, designers, and programmers to anticipate and understand project needs, ensuring visually stunning results.
- Develop and refine designs while adhering to production timelines.
- Oversee efficient workflows and pipelines, ensuring high performance and quality.
- Inspire the art team with clear and constructive feedback.
- Maintain style guides and documentation for the game's visual style and assets.
- Ensure that external partners adhere to the visual direction.
- Work with publishers and marketing teams to ensure effective visual representation of the game.
- Balance technical restraints with innovative visual solutions.
- Collaborate with leads, artists, engineers, and designers to produce top-tier game assets.
- Review outsourced content to ensure quality.
What we're looking for:
- Experience as an Art Director on a shipped game, with a proven track record in a AAA studio.
- Demonstrated ability to lead an art team towards a unified vision.
- Strong collaborative skills, working with other directors and leads.
- Extensive knowledge of various game art disciplines.
- Expertise in color theory, character and creature anatomy, and multiple art styles.
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in an open, transparent work environment.
- Appreciation for diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- 6+ years of professional experience in game art, with leadership experience.
Your experience:
- You have shipped a game in a lead or director capacity within a AAA studio.
- You have demonstrated expertise in art fundamentals, art direction, and team management.
- You possess a strong portfolio showcasing a range of styles and disciplines.
