Sensaria is seeking a dynamic Director of Data Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of our organization's data infrastructure, managing and working hands on with teams to build scalable, secure, and high-quality data pipelines. This senior leadership role focuses on data modeling, cloud-native solutions, and aligning data initiatives with business goals. This role will be based at our Morrisville, NC HQ (near RDU International) this will be a hybrid role with opportunity to work remotely. Key Role Responsibilities/Position Overview :
Strategic Leadership
- Data Roadmap: Define and execute the long-term technical roadmap for data engineering, overcoming disparate, siloed reporting to consolidated, comprehensive org wide data.
- Architecture Oversight: Overseeing the design of robust, secure, and scalable data solutions.
- Budget Management: Oversee the data engineering cloud infrastructure budget (AWS/GCP), optimizing for performance while controlling "compute" and storage costs.
Engineering Excellence
- Data Quality & Governance: Establish rigorous standards for data cleanliness, metadata management, and "Single Source of Truth" (SSOT) protocols.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all data pipelines comply with global regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and internal security policies.
- Tool Selection: Evaluate and implement the "Modern Data Stack" (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Airflow) to improve engineering velocity.

Team & People Management
- Mentorship: Lead and grow a team of Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Database Administrators.
- Culture: Foster a culture of "DataOps," emphasizing automation, quality, continuous integration (CI/CD), and proactive monitoring
Technical Profile and Education Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (Master's preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 10+ years in data engineering; 4+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Tools: Cloud expertise, preferably AWS or GCP (BigQuery).
- Data Tools: Experience with Airflow, Excel, Tableau, Looker Professional, Looker Studio highly preferred
- Languages: Mastery of Python and SQL; familiarity with Scala or Java is a plus.

- Data Latency: Reducing the time it takes for a business event to appear in the dashboard (e.g., moving from 24-hour lag to near real-time).
- Cost Efficiency: Reducing annual cloud storage/compute costs through optimization and better modeling.
- Team Velocity: Improving the speed at which the engineering team can deploy new data models.
