Key Responsibilities
Assist in creating and executing test cases for AWS-based applications and infrastructure.

Support automation of cloud testing tasks using scripts or tools provided by senior team members.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, and product managers, to ensure test scenarios are comprehensive and validate system functionality.
Execute predefined test cases for edge devices and firmware, focusing on functionality and basic interoperability with cloud systems.
Assist in validating communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, HTTP) between edge devices and cloud infrastructure.
Conduct manual and semi-automated tests on embedded systems under guidance.
Report defects and assist in troubleshooting firmware-related issues.

Job Purpose

This position will focus on testing cloud-based systems with an emphasis on Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments, while also contributing to edge device and firmware testing. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our distributed systems, bridging cloud infrastructure and edge hardware. As an experienced test engineer the role will require deep expertise in designing and implementing test strategies for complex, distributed systems, with the ability to lead a team and drive quality across both cloud and embedded environments. This position will be located in Independence, MO.

Education / Training

Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field.

Qualifications And Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in test engineering with at least 5 years focused on cloud-based system testing (AWS preferred);
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage tasks, mentor team members, and drive high-quality results;
  • Proficiency with AWS services;
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar for test automation and tooling;
  • Experience with test automation frameworks, and CI/CD tools, containerized environments and their testing methodologies, security testing principles.

  • Strength – Position typically involves work in an office environment with occasional visits to a production environment. Frequent/constant sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Occasional light to medium-level lifting or carrying (up to 30 pounds);
  • Motion – Position regularly requires standard motions associated with working in an office environment. Depending on assigned project, position may occasionally require motions involved in an industrial working environment, including some kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping;
  • Vision/Hearing Requirements – Frequent verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;
  • Work Environment – Position is typically located in an office environment with occasional visits to a light production environment.
  • Emotional Demands – Working at a high level independently and in a team setting. Requires significant interpersonal skills.
  • Safety – Position may occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment during visits to production areas.
