Unpause is a design-psychology-led creative studio building thoughtful brands, products, and marketing systems. We’re hiring a Front-End WordPress Developer to help build and optimize high-quality landing pages and page templates for an enterprise website program.
This role will co-lead development efforts alongside our Lead Developer and will be a client-facing position, working directly with stakeholders across design, marketing, product, and engineering teams.
You’ll translate Figma designs into performant, accessible WordPress experiences while balancing speed, quality, and communication across distributed teams.
Why this role exists
Our enterprise client is undergoing a major web transformation — moving from a legacy page-builder setup (Divi) to a modern Full Site Editing (FSE) architecture built on WordPress Blocks and enterprise hosting infrastructure.
This role will help scale and stabilize the front-end experience across international sites, product hubs, and integrated marketing ecosystems while acting as a reliable technical partner to both Unpause and client stakeholders.
What you’ll do
Development & Delivery
- Build and ship responsive landing pages and templates from Figma using Gutenberg blocks, ACF, and clean front-end code.
- Support migration from Divi architecture to a custom FSE block-based theme.
- Create reusable components, blocks, templates, and design-system-aligned structures.
- Maintain and modernize existing PHP, CSS, and JavaScript codebases.
- Optimize performance, accessibility, and SEO across all pages.
Technical Ownership & Collaboration
Co-lead development execution with Unpause’s Lead Developer.
- Participate in architecture discussions, implementation planning, and technical decision-making.
- Review pull requests and maintain clean, scalable coding standards.
- Manage work across development environments (local → staging → production).
Client-Facing Responsibilities
- Attend client meetings and communicate technical progress, risks, and timelines clearly.
- Translate business and design requirements into actionable development plans.
- Provide thoughtful recommendations that improve usability, scalability, and performance.

Operational Excellence
- Troubleshoot layout, plugin, or integration issues.
- Collaborate with designers, SEO specialists, analytics teams, and backend engineers.
- Maintain documentation and ensure consistent publishing workflows.
Must-Have Skills
- Proven experience with WordPress development (custom themes, Gutenberg blocks, APIs).
- Strong front-end skills: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), React, and PHP fundamentals.
- Experience migrating from page builders (Divi/Elementor) to custom or FSE themes.
- Deep familiarity with Gutenberg, ACF, and component-driven development.
- Strong Git workflow and experience with managed WordPress hosting environments.
- Demonstrated ability to improve performance, accessibility, and SEO.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work across global time zones and attend scheduled client meetings.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver quickly without compromising quality.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience working on enterprise-scale or multi-region websites.
- Familiarity with Altis Cloud, WP Engine, or similar platforms.
- Experience collaborating with marketing and product teams.
- Exposure to analytics, internationalization, or SEO tooling.
