Job Description


We’re looking for a Local SEO Specialist to lead the client-side execution and communication for a growing SEO agency Opt Digital.


The OTE compensation will be $80K–$110K USD/year, with performance incentives tied to client retention, referrals, and campaign outcomes, the longer you retain a client the higher your compensation per account


We are aiming to reach $300K/month in recurring revenue within 3 months, while onboarding 10–20 new clients each month.


We’re a digital marketing agency focused on helping local trades and service businesses grow through search.


By 2026, our goal is to become the most trusted name in Local SEO across New Zealand, USA and Australia for service businesses.


We work with roofers, electricians, landscapers, plumbers, fencers, and home service providers — and we help them get found on Google, generate consistent inbound leads, and scale their businesses through structured, execution-focused SEO, branding, & lead nurturing + a mix of back end automations, and systemisation


Our team currently includes SEO strategists, content writers, designers, and developers. We’ve built a clear 3-month campaign model that helps clients rank faster and see measurable growth in call volume and visibility.


Now, we need someone to own the client-side delivery, lead communication, and ensure our campaigns stay on track and deliver outcomes.


This is where the Local SEO Specialist role comes into play.


What the Role Entails:

  • Weekly reviews of client performance — what changed, what worked, what didn’t
  • Strategy execution — Implementation of each phase of our local campaign to ensure clients crush it & dominate their local area, using methods like schema stacking, map stacking, content optimisation and using tools like Semrush, Make.com / Zapier / n8n, WordPress, etc
  • Updating clients via calls, SMS and emails — delivering insights before they ask for them
  • Answering questions clearly and proactively — making sure clients always feel looked after
  • Onboarding new clients — setting expectations and getting everything aligned from day one
  • Coordinating internal delivery — working with content writers, designers, and developers to make sure every campaign is executed cleanly and reflects the client’s brand, you’re not just relaying information from the client to the team, you’re leading the charge and implementing the gameplan
  • Reporting on outcomes — using plain English to translate ranking and traffic metrics into results that make sense to the business owner


Skills We’re Looking For

This role is equal parts project manager, strategist, communicator, and relationship-builder. You don’t need to be a technical SEO, but you do need to know how things work and how to lead a campaign from start to finish.

  • 2+ years of experience in Local SEO specifically
  • Working knowledge of local SEO — GMB, on-page optimization, location/service pages, citations, internal linking, schema, and basic tech SEO
  • Comfortable managing 20–30 accounts concurrently without losing attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills — able to confidently lead calls, send updates, and speak clearly with clients who don’t know SEO
  • Naturally personable and trustworthy — you know how to make clients feel heard, respected, and supported
  • Experience using tools like SEMrush, GA4, GSC, BrightLocal, and Local Viking
  • Comfortable using ClickUp, Google Workspace, WordPress, and automation tools (Zapier / Make)
  • Able to troubleshoot issues, coordinate internally, and keep timelines moving
