Job Description
Job Title: Cloud Engineer III
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 6 -12 Months (Possible Extension)
Core Technical Requirements:
- Terraform is the primary skill and the main pass/fail area
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on, production Terraform experience
- Candidates must be comfortable with live Terraform coding during interviews
- Strong Azure cloud engineering background
- Azure GovCloud experience strongly preferred
- Overall experience range: 3–7 years in cloud / infrastructure engineering
Terraform Expectations (Very Important):
- Deep experience with Terraform state management
- Remote state
- State locking
- Best practices for shared environments
- Experience supporting Terraform usage across large teams (15+ concurrent users)
- Strong understanding of Terraform workflows
- init, validate, plan, apply
- PR-driven workflows and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience building, maintaining, and updating shared Terraform modules
- Ability to manage dependencies and module relationships
- Familiarity with newer Terraform features released within the last 6–12 months
- Ability to debug and modify existing Terraform code
- Red flag: candidates who indicate Terraform should not be controlled via pipelines or PRs

Azure Technical Focus:
- Azure networking fundamentals are required
- Experience with:
- Hub-and-spoke architectures
- VNET peering
- Traffic flow and transitive routing
- Experience building and managing landing zones via Terraform
- Some AWS GovCloud experience may be acceptable for a small subset of hires (up to 2 of 10), but those candidates must be exceptionally strong
