Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Digital Product Designer to lead the design of a next-generation mobile and connected hardware experience. This role focuses on crafting intuitive, accessible, and high-quality iOS and Android applications that integrate seamlessly with consumer hardware products.
This position is ideal for a designer who thrives in ambiguous problem spaces, collaborates deeply with cross-functional teams, and has a proven track record of delivering consumer-facing mobile products, preferably within hardware-connected ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end design execution for mobile applications (iOS and Android) and connected hardware experiences
- Convert user research, business requirements, and technical constraints into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs
- Collaborate closely with product management, engineering (hardware, firmware, and software), and QA teams
- Partner with UX Research to iterate designs based on usability testing and user feedback
- Maintain and evolve design systems to ensure consistency across platforms
- Champion accessibility and inclusive design standards (WCAG 2.1)
- Clearly communicate design rationale, strategy, and tradeoffs to cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders
- Support planning and delivery of long-term product initiatives.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience designing consumer-facing mobile applications
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end product design (concept → launch)
- Strong expertise in Figma and modern prototyping tools
- Hands-on experience working in Agile / cross-functional product teams
- Experience collaborating with engineering and QA teams
- Solid understanding of mobile UX patterns for iOS and Android
- Strong knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1)
- Ability to work independently and drive clarity in ambiguous environments
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- A strong portfolio showcasing mobile product design and design systems
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience designing hardware-connected or IoT applications
- Mobile app design for wearables, fitness, or sports platforms
- Experience with consumer hardware ecosystems (smart devices, connected products)
Work Model & Additional Information
- Hybrid Schedule: Onsite Monday–Thursday, Remote Friday
- Contract Length: Full 2-year assignment
- Location Preference: Candidates local to the Portland (PDX) area preferred; relocation may be considered.
