GIS & Data Engineer for Autonomous Ecosystem Restoration Systems

We are seeking a GIS & Data Engineer to support the development and operation of geospatial data pipelines that power our autonomous ecosystem restoration systems. In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers, AI, robotics, and ecology teams to process multi-sensor geospatial data and translate it into actionable insights for real-world ecological interventions.

This is a hands-on engineering role with strong exposure to advanced geospatial technologies, AI-driven workflows, and large-scale environmental data.

🔹Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop, implement, and maintain geospatial data pipelines for processing multi-sensor inputs (e.g., multispectral drone imagery, LiDAR, SAR, satellite data)
• Support the development and deployment of AI/ML algorithms for geospatial data processing and analysis
• Build, manage, and query spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, Oracle Spatial) to enable analytics and visualization
• Collaborate with AI, robotics, and ecology teams to integrate geospatial data into autonomous mapping, seeding, and monitoring systems
• Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Tableau or Power BI
• Perform data validation, quality checks, and consistency monitoring across platforms
• Document data pipelines, workflows, and system components
• Stay up to date with GIS and geospatial data engineering best practices and contribute improvement ideas

🔹What are we looking for?

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geospatial Science, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 3–6 years of experience in GIS engineering, geospatial data processing, or a related role
• Proficiency with GIS tools such as ArcGIS and QGIS
• Hands-on experience with geospatial libraries and tools (e.g., GDAL, GeoPandas, Shapely)
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
• Experience working with spatial databases
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and data visualization tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team

🔹Preferred Qualifications

• Experience processing and analyzing remote sensing data
• Exposure to ecological, environmental, or Earth observation datasets
• Familiarity with machine learning techniques applied to geospatial data
• Experience working with large-scale or real-time data pipelines
