As a QA Manager at Fountain, you'll lead a team of QA engineers responsible for ensuring the quality of our products. Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, software engineers, and customer support representatives, you'll ensure our products meet requirements and remain bug-free.

To excel in this role, you should possess a proven knack for bug-hunting, regression & exploratory testing, and building out automated testing scripts for end-to-end workflows. You should be able to lead by example, but also keep a remote team engaged and functioning at a high level. You should also possess strong communication & collaboration skills across different team roles, as well as a curious & proactive mindset.

The Fountain Engineering team is organized into product squads, each responsible for independently owning the product's quality and health. The teams are the domain experts of their products, are always looking to improve their operation, and iterate rapidly to develop new features. We build fast, and occasionally break things ;)

This role requires collaboration within a globally distributed organization, spanning different time zones, continents, and cultures (including Western and Northern Europe, USA, South Africa, Mexico, and more).

What You'll Be Doing

  • Mentoring a team of product QA experts to continue to deliver high quality product enhancements while maintaining a ship fast mentality
  • Keeping a user-first approach to testing, ensuring a positive end-user experience
  • Guiding the team to enhance and improve our overall automation so that our testing becomes more repeatable and consistent
  • Strategize on how best to handle the challenge of AI, both as a tool and a product feature
  • Be a clear voice and advocate for quality throughout the company, and champion how the make every step of the process quality focused
  • Working with implementation and customer success teams to take customer learnings back into the testing cycles and product improvements
  • Engaging closely with product, design, and engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle, offering insights at every stage
  • Keeping a fully remote QA team engaged, efficient and productive
  • Proactively identifying and addressing process improvements in collaboration with team members

What You Should Bring

  • Proven experience leading and growing a remote QA team
  • 6+ years of experience QA, including experience testing on both desktop and mobile platforms
  • 3+ years of experience in writing and maintaining automated testing scripts for end-to-end workflows, ideally with Playwright or a Node.js framework
  • Curious and analytical style that is always looking for ways to improve the process and team
  • The ability to learn new concepts quickly, and be able to explain them to others
  • Experience in issue tracking software, Linear preferred
  • Responsiveness and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate effective collaboration with the team
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, escalate issues proactively, and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Have

  • Experience in setting up automated testing frameworks
  • Experience in B2B SaaS startup environments and remote international settings is preferred
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following programming languages: Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, MongoDB, Express
