Your Role And Key Responsibilities

As a role of Test Management Analyst, you will be at the forefront of Volkswagen Group’s global battery transformation, supporting the launch of its largest cell factory in St. Thomas and the transition of advanced battery cells from development to mass production. Reporting to the Head of R&D within the Technology Department, this role ensures that all cell testing meets the highest standards of technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and corporate quality.

This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Plan and execute lithium-ion cell validation activities in alignment with global test strategies and roadmaps defined by headquarters. Ensure local testing processes in Canada are implemented consistently, meet compliance requirements, and align with technical expectations across regions.
  • Lead the preparation and consolidation of test reports by analyzing data from internal benches and external labs. Validate results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company and regulatory standards, and coordinate technical reviews with senior engineers and global teams.
  • Act as the key point of contact between local R&D, quality, safety, and supplier teams, ensuring smooth coordination with Germany and other regions. Drive alignment of test schedules, deliverables, and issue resolution to keep global programs on track.
  • Organize and optimize the use of internal lab assets, test benches, and external facilities. Coordinate technical requirements, timelines, and reporting with external laboratories, ensuring high-quality data and adherence to company standards.
  • Execute global test protocols while identifying opportunities for method optimization and efficiency improvement. Ensure all testing follows harmonized procedures, maintains measurement integrity, and supports alignment with global quality benchmarks.
  • Oversee lab readiness by ensuring equipment calibration, maintenance schedules, and capacity planning are properly managed. Identify and address infrastructure gaps or issues, escalating to senior leadership when needed and proposing solutions to enhance reliability.
  • Operate and refine digital reporting platforms and analytics tools to increase test transparency and traceability. Contribute to the integration of predictive diagnostics and data-driven decision-making in daily test operations.
  • Summarize and present test results, technical findings, and risk assessments to senior engineers, managers, and global stakeholders. Provide clear and structured input for decision-making, program reviews, and external communications.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, analytical chemistry, material, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Experience in cell validation in automotive manufacturer or automotive battery cell manufacturer.
  • Technical expertise in validation processes, including test execution oversight, data analysis, and root cause investigation across electrical, environmental, safety, and durability domains.
  • Ability to define and manage test strategies, optimize internal and external laboratory resources, and collaborate effectively with R&D, quality, and international teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in test method development and optimization, as well as test bench qualification, with thorough knowledge of equipment capabilities, limitations, and lab management practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Effective communicator with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to present findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to maintain flexible work hours to account for time zone differences with Europe, and the ability to work overtime on occasion to meet ramp-up deadlines.

  • Attractive Remuneration: The expected competitive compensation range for this position is $78,260 - $117,380 CAD, which includes base pay and target amount of short term incentive plan.
