Job Description

About truuth

truuth was founded in 2019 with a mission to deliver highly accurate, secure, and user-friendly digital identity, fraud detection, and authentication services. As more business and consumer activity moves online, the risks of identity misuse, document fraud, and account compromise continue to increase. truuth builds technology that helps organisations reduce these risks with confidence.

truuth helps organisations confidently verify and protect the real human behind digital interactions, and detect fraud across onboarding and document-driven workflows, through modular identity and fraud detection products that can be used independently or combined.

Our legacy product, truuth KYC, is a fully digital Verification of Identity (VOI) service used by enterprise customers to onboard users quickly and securely. It combines document authenticity checks, biometric matching, liveness detection, and database verification to deliver a high level of identity assurance, typically completing verification in under two minutes without face-to-face interactions.

Building on this foundation, truuth has expanded into Fraud Detection as a Service (FDaaS) with truuth Verify, which helps businesses identify fraud through document fraud analysis, repeat image detection, repeat text checks, and reverse internet checks. truuth Verify is currently used by several leading global organisations. These capabilities generate risk scores and outcomes that support confident fraud decisions in document-heavy and high-risk use cases.

truuth also provides secure authentication through truuth BioPass, a biometric-based Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) solution that replaces insecure passwords with face, voice, or fingerprint authentication. Together, truuth’s products and services enable flexible onboarding, identity, authentication, and fraud prevention solutions tailored to customer needs.

Role Overview

We are looking for a full-time MERN Stack Developer to join our engineering team in a remote or hybrid role, with working hours that closely align with Australian time zones.

This role involves strong backend ownership with deep integration into AWS-based services, alongside frontend development. You will work on production systems used by real customers to solve real-world identity and fraud problems.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop backend services using Node.js and cloud-native or serverless patterns, integrated tightly with AWS services.
  • Design and build responsive, high-quality user interfaces using React, with a strong focus on usability and performance.
  • Work across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimisation.
  • Collaborate closely within a small, high-trust team where ownership and accountability matter.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience with modern frontend development using React, including component design, state management, and performance optimisation.
  • Solid JavaScript fundamentals and experience building maintainable, scalable frontend applications.
  • Strong backend experience with Node.js and cloud-native or serverless architectures, with a slight emphasis on backend development.
  • Strong AWS proficiency is essential, including hands-on experience with services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and IAM.
  • Experience working with MongoDB and building RESTful APIs.
  • Experience developing secure, production-grade systems.
  • Good understanding of cloud security, scalability, and reliability principles.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using Git in a collaborative development environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a remote, distributed team.

Nice to Have

  • Development experience in Python, including building APIs using the Flask framework.
  • Experience with DevOps and MLOps practices, particularly using serverless architectures, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
