Job Description

About Thrive Financial

Thrive Financial is a fast-growing, pre-Series A fintech that partners with banks to originate consumer installment loans nationwide. We combine strong technology, rigorous compliance, and thoughtful product design to deliver responsible lending solutions that help merchants close more deals and give consumers transparent access to credit.

We build software that sits at the intersection of regulated financial systems, real-world business workflows, and scale. That means our engineers don’t just write code — they help shape how the business operates, along with the value that it delivers.

About the Role

Thrive Financial is looking for a Software Engineer to join our growing engineering organization. This role is ideal for an engineer who is solid in their fundamentals, eager to grow, and excited to take on increasing ownership as they develop their craft.

As a Software Engineer, you’ll work closely with senior engineers and product partners to deliver high-quality features, improve existing systems, and learn how to operate effectively in a regulated, production-critical environment.

Our Core Values (GRIT)

At Thrive, we look for the following values in every teammate:

Get things done

We take initiative, execute reliably, and follow through on commitments.

Respect each other

We communicate openly, bring humility to discussions, and assume positive intent.

Intellectual curiosity

We ask questions, seek understanding, and continuously improve how we work.

Teamwork

We succeed together by sharing ownership, learning from one another, and supporting our peers.

What You’ll Work On:

Being a Software Engineer at Thrive means working on things like:

  • Building and maintaining production software that supports our lending platform
  • Implementing features and fixes based on well-defined requirements and designs
  • Collaborating with Product and Engineering teammates to understand problems and solutions
  • Writing clear, testable, and maintainable code
  • Participating in code reviews and incorporating feedback to improve quality
  • Learning how our systems behave in production and helping resolve issues when they arise
  • Contributing to documentation and improving team workflows over time
  • Taking on more ownership as your experience and confidence grow

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Experience building applications using Node.js and TypeScript
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL and basic data modeling concepts
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS
  • Comfort working within an existing codebase and contributing incrementally
  • Ability to communicate clearly and ask questions when requirements or trade-offs are unclear
  • A growth mindset and willingness to learn from feedback

Software Engineers are expected to:

  • Deliver reliable solutions to well-scoped problems
  • Understand the objectives of the work they support
  • Contribute meaningfully to their team’s success
  • Learn how to break down work, estimate effort, and communicate progress

Why Join Thrive:

  • Opportunity to grow your skills at an early-stage fintech with real production systems
  • The chance to work closely with subject matter experts who have exited the industry previously, as well as product and technology executives and leaders that have scaled numerous organizations and individuals in hands-on ways
  • Support and mentorship from experienced engineers
  • Exposure to complex, real-world problems in a regulated domain
  • Fully remote work environment
  • Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits
