Job Purpose
The Dealer Applications Unit manages mission-critical systems providing essential connectivity and operational support for all Honda dealers, Independent Service Repair facilities, and field associates across all business lines. As a key member, the Team Manager leads the team responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of dealer and field application platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, compliance, operational excellence, and platform innovation.
- Strategic Leadership: Present IT strategy and updates to executives and senior leadership. Collaborate with business, IT teams, and partners to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support fast, modern, and cost-effective technology solutions and services.
- Team Management: Provide leadership, direction, mentoring, and supervision for team members. Ensure the success of projects, enhancements, and support, including budget and QCD (Quality, Cost, and Delivery).
- Project and Support Oversight: Ensure all projects, enhancements, and portfolio support follow IT methodologies. Serve as the initial point of escalation for issues, reporting to the Unit Manager as needed.
- Technical Leadership: Act as Solutions Architect on multiple projects, leading technical workstreams and partnering with architects and review boards to obtain approvals. Build vision, technology roadmaps, and planning artifacts.
- Governance and Compliance: Provide governance and oversight for all team activities. Define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices. Ensure compliance with enterprise and industry standards, security, data privacy, SOX, and PII regulations. Support audits.
- Innovation and Improvement: Work with management, vendors, and partners to identify opportunities for business innovation and technology improvements. Develop relationships to ensure business requirements are met.
- Budget Management: Assist and contribute to budgetary processes. Ensure budgets are adhered to and allocated correctly.
- Talent Acquisition: Conduct interviews for candidates and assist with vendor/third-party agreements.
Key Accountabilities
- Vision & Strategy:
- Collaborate with Unit Manager to shape direction and vision for IT, Division, Department, and Unit.
- Communicate business and IT strategies to the team.
- Maintain a strategic perspective on business and technology in IT planning.
- QCD, TQM, PDCA
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement for processes and operations, following TQM and PDCA methodologies.
- Achieve unit and project budget targets; ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Ensure IT assets comply with governance, risk, and compliance standards, including PII and other best practices.
- Lead audit requirements for the unit.
- Build and maintain high performing IT teams
- Foster associate development through teaching, coaching, mentoring, and effective performance management.
- Motivate and engage the team to achieve goals and objectives.
- Achieve the goals for the Team:
- Deliver operational KPIs for supported platforms, including system and security upgrades, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to mitigate cyber risks.
- Manage analytics and reporting for system health.
- Work with managers to develop and communicate vision, roadmaps, and project issues aligned with IT strategy.
- Encourage innovative thinking within the team.

- Build relationships and networks to establish trust and credibility with internal and external customers.
- Use persuasion and influence to achieve enterprise IT goals.

- Provide Technical and Solution Leadership
- Design technical solutions and provide architecture oversight, including code reviews.
- Direct design, methodologies, tooling, partnerships, and support models.
- Perform modeling, gap analysis, and create architecture artifacts (e.g., context diagrams, data flow diagrams, business capability roadmaps).
- Work with Architecture Review Board for project approvals.
- Lead business and technical workstreams in critical projects.
- Build vision, technology roadmaps, and planning artifacts.
- This is an onsite job, which will require the employee to work in our Honda office at Torrance, CA, at least 4 days per workweek. One remote workday a week may be possible with prior departmental approval.
- Annual travel requirements: Approx. 10% (largely domestic; some international travel possible)

- Minimum Educational Qualifications
- IT related Bachelor Degree and/or equivalent work experience
- Minimum Experience
- 8+ years in Information Technology/Information Services
- 5+ years supervisory, resource management, vendor management experience
- 5+ years experience supporting IT Delivery
- 5+ year experience managing and delivering large/ multiple projects, platforms, and products
- In-depth knowledge of applicable SOX, PII, data privacy practices, security, and governance
- Other Job-Specific skills
- Strong project management skills for delivering quality results on time and on budget
- Experience managing teams with differing priorities and expertise
- Excellent written, presentation, and communication skills at all levels
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities

- Experience performing modelling, gap analysis, and crafting architecture artifacts (context diagrams, data flow diagrams, business capability roadmaps)
- Experience working with Architecture Review Board
- Experience building 5-year visions and 3-year technology roadmaps and other planning artifacts
- In-depth experience of B2D and B2B Web Hosting environment
- Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Ability to manage multiple goals and deadlines, mentor others, and build strong networks at executive levels
