About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Business Analyst specializing in Insurance and Reinsurance Data Governance to join our Data Strategy team. This role offers a hybrid or remote work arrangement, with a primary location in Farmington, CT, and the flexibility for fully remote work across the U.S., particularly on the East Coast. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in operationalizing data governance frameworks, supporting metadata management, and ensuring data quality across multiple platforms.
The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed best practices into project workflows, supporting governance technologies such as Collibra, Alation, and MDM/RDM platforms, and driving initiatives that enhance data integrity and standardization. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in insurance data analysis, governance, and metadata management who are passionate about transforming data into a strategic asset for the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality, MDM/RDM, and Data Stewardship principles
- At least 5 years of experience in applying technical and business skills to perform data analysis and translate business requirements into metadata and reference data
- Extensive experience within the insurance and reinsurance industry
- Proficiency with cloud-based applications and understanding of IT security principles
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data modeling, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Experience with data catalog platforms such as Collibra, Alation, or Informatica Axon
- Familiarity with data quality tools like Informatica Data Quality or Talend
- Basic to intermediate querying skills using SQL or similar query languages
- Understanding of data structures, relationships, and reference data domains
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and adaptability in dynamic environments
- Operationalize Data Governance: Embed data governance and management best practices into project workflows and daily operations to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
- Consult on Projects: Partner with cross-functional teams to align project deliverables with enterprise data governance standards and review outputs for adherence to policies.
- Support Governance Technologies: Assist in the implementation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of data catalog platforms, MDM/RDM systems, and data quality tools.
- Drive Metadata Excellence: Collaborate with data stewards and stakeholders to maintain accurate, accessible, and comprehensive metadata across systems.
- Enable Reference Data Standardization: Conduct business and data analysis to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and opportunities for harmonizing reference data across enterprise systems.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate communication with business and technical teams to understand data needs, promote governance tool adoption, and foster data literacy.
- Maintain Documentation: Keep detailed records of governance procedures, data standards, and metadata classifications to support transparency and compliance.
- Monitor Platform Performance: Track usage, troubleshoot issues, and provide user training to maximize the effectiveness of data governance platforms.
