About The Role
The Designer II role at Dutch Bros Coffee is a vital position dedicated to supporting our development and construction initiatives. The primary responsibility is to complete and review site plans, floor plans, and building elevations that align with the requirements set forth by our Real Estate and Construction Departments. This role involves collaborating closely with external consultants and internal teams to ensure the accurate and timely execution of building designs that meet operational standards and brand consistency. The Designer II will assist in developing prototypes, managing design documents, and ensuring that all plans adhere to quality and safety standards. Additionally, this position offers an opportunity to work on multiple projects simultaneously, providing field support and contributing to the successful opening of new stores. The role is based in Tempe, Arizona, with a hybrid work model that includes four days in-office and one optional remote day, fostering a collaborative yet flexible working environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Design from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in architecture, design, or related fields, preferably within QSR, restaurants, retail, or hospitality sectors.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, products, and their durability, cost, ease of use, and maintenance advantages over the lifespan of a building.
- Proficiency in design and drafting software such as SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Revit or CAD software, Bluebeam, with proficiency in at least one of these tools.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel as needed for field support and project oversight.
- Review and track plans submitted by architects, franchisees, and developers, ensuring timely compliance with project timelines and standards.
- Assist in disseminating project information, serving as a roadmap for company and franchise partner development activities.
- Collaborate on the production and release of prototype plans, facilitating updates and modifications based on operational feedback.
- Ensure plans are current and align with the latest brand standards, operational needs, and proprietary designs.
- Participate in meetings, symposiums, and discussions with HQ and external consultants to maintain clear communication and address design concerns.
- Provide field support as a Subject Matter Expert or Construction Management support for various projects, ensuring quality and adherence to design specifications.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation related to architectural designs, construction conditions, and project updates.
- Foster relationships with industry professionals, including architects, vendors, suppliers, government officials, and landlords, ensuring brand consistency and compliance.
- Coordinate plan reviews to ensure compliance with brand standards, trademarks, and best management practices, while adhering to project timelines.
- Stay current on industry trends by participating in professional organizations and implementing latest design techniques in projects.
- Assist in exterior design development, site plan test fits, and operational test fits to support new store openings and renovations.
- Support franchisees and operating partners with effective design strategies and plan utilization to optimize operational efficiency.
