About The Role
This position is a fully remote role aligned with System Office policy, allowing the successful candidate to work from anywhere within North Carolina. The primary responsibility is to support the Human Resources, Benefits, and Payroll functions within UNC Chapel Hill’s PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) system. The role involves business analysis, system development, and ongoing support for PeopleSoft and related third-party HR, Benefits, and Payroll systems. The incumbent will engage in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from gathering requirements to post-implementation support and report development. This position requires effective communication with a broad range of campus users and ITS technical staff, ensuring seamless system operations and enhancements. The role also involves analyzing current processes, recommending improvements, and troubleshooting complex issues related to HR actions, payroll, and benefits processing. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining system integrity, developing reporting solutions, and collaborating with technical teams to optimize system functionality.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft HCM
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Intermediate proficiency in SQL
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Experience with business analysis and system development lifecycle
- Familiarity with third-party HR, Benefits, and Payroll systems
- Preferred: 1-3 years of experience in a higher education setting
- Preferred: 1-3 years of reporting or data analysis experience in HR, Payroll, or Benefits
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP systems
- Gather and synthesize functional specifications to design, develop, and maintain system applications
- Perform independent analysis, unit/system testing, and debugging of PeopleSoft systems
- Evaluate current HR and payroll processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency
- Investigate and recommend utilization of PeopleSoft functionality not currently implemented
- Develop and deliver medium-complexity reports using PS Query and SQL
- Partner with technical teams to maintain and develop interfaces to external systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve tickets related to system issues and application errors
- Support system testing phases and ensure smooth deployment of updates or new features
- Analyze complex HR actions and assess downstream impacts on Benefits, Payroll, and Commitment Accounting
- Address data and system issues related to bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing
