Job Title: Director HR Data and Analytics
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
Type: Full Time
Our client is looking for a seasoned Director – HR Data and Analytics to lead a high-performing team that drives people insights, informs HR strategy, and elevates data-driven decision-making across the organization.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development and execution of the team’s strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment with HR, functional, and enterprise priorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders by delivering high-quality analytics, insights, and decision-support solutions.
- Manage performance, talent development, and career growth for your team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high standards of delivery.
- Oversee the volume, quality, and business value of the team’s work, while ensuring compliance with risk, regulatory, and internal control requirements.
- Continuously evaluate industry trends and best practices, integrating them into processes, technology, and long-term HR data and analytics strategies.
- Act as a strategic thought partner and subject matter expert to HR and business leaders on people analytics, workforce insights, and data-driven decision support.
- Provide direction on work prioritization, capacity planning, and issue resolution, while encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Technology teams to enhance core data, reporting, and information delivery capabilities and reduce dependency on manual/user-developed tools.
- Influence data, information, and application architecture decisions related to HR data, ensuring strong information governance and data management practices.
What You Have
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Data/Business Analytics, Data Science, Operations Research) or equivalent quantitative experience.
- Around 8+ years of experience in data and analytics, technical, or closely related business functions (or 6+ years with an advanced STEM degree).
- At least 3 years of experience leading or managing teams in analytics, BI, or data-focused environments.
- Experience overseeing teams conducting cost–benefit analyses and using outcomes to shape business intelligence and analytics solutions.
- Proven background guiding teams on large-scale, complex BI projects, including requirements gathering and solution design.
- Strong facilitation, collaboration, and consensus-building skills, with experience presenting to cross-functional teams and senior/executive leaders.
- Demonstrated expertise in business intelligence practices, methods, and structured problem-solving.
- Experience translating business needs into clear, actionable data and analytics requirements.
- Deep knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk management practices, and regulatory data considerations.
- Hands-on experience with BI and data platforms or SQL-based tools (e.g., Tableau, Business Objects, Snowflake, Hadoop, Netezza, NoSQL, ANSI SQL, or similar).
- Ability to embed strong storytelling and clear, concise presentation of complex technical topics into dashboards and analytics outputs.
What Sets You Apart
- Experience leading teams that design, build, and maintain data visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, QlikView, BusinessObjects, or similar.
- Familiarity with HR technology ecosystems, including HRIS platforms and HR data models related to HR Technology/Engineering and HR Data Architecture.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and data architecture concepts within the context of HR data, HR analytics, and people insights.
- Proven experience in direct people management, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management of analytics professionals.
- Knowledge of Business Architecture principles, with the ability to align HR data and technology solutions with broader business strategy.
