Job Description

★ Principal / Lead Embedded Software Engineer ★

(Embedded C, RTOS, Microcontrollers)

NW of Fort Wayne, IN ★ Full‑Time Direct Hire ★ U.S. citizenship with eligibility for a Secret Security Clearance ★

★ Why This Role Matters

Use your embedded software expertise to protect lives and advance national security technologies. This is a high‑impact role where you’ll stay hands‑on with embedded C programming while mentoring engineers, setting standards, and driving innovation across real‑time embedded systems.

★ What You’ll Do

  • Embedded C Development: Architect and write bare‑metal embedded C software for microcontrollers (50%+ hands‑on coding).
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, provide technical direction, and act as a force multiplier for the team.
  • Program Ownership: Ensure quality and consistency across deliverables as the technical owner.
  • Frameworks & Tools: Develop reusable solutions to accelerate embedded software development.
  • Best Practices: Establish processes, conduct code reviews, and champion engineering standards.

★ What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of embedded software engineering experience (defense, aerospace, or mission‑critical systems preferred).
  • Expertise in C programming (bare‑metal microcontroller experience strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with RTOS (FreeRTOS a plus), FPGA/VHDL, and communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet).
  • Strong technical leadership and mentorship skills.

★ Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Mission That Matters: Your work directly supports technologies trusted by military and security organizations worldwide.
  • Cutting‑Edge Innovation: Collaborate on multi‑mission embedded systems, integrating RTOS, FPGA, and secure communications across diverse platforms. Exposure to NXP, TI, STM, and more keeps your skills sharp and future‑proof.
  • Empowered Culture: Engineers are trusted to own their work. You’ll join mission‑critical projects where your contributions are visible and celebrated.
  • Work‑Life Balance: Flexible schedules that you choose — traditional 8–5, four 10‑hour days with Fridays off, or later starts with evening hours.
  • Career Growth: Advance as a technical SME, lead teams, or branch into systems engineering and program management. Training and development opportunities are built in.
  • Competitive Package: $135K–$160K+ base salary depending on experience, annual bonus
  • Benefits & Relocation Package: 4 weeks PTO, 11 holidays, relocation support, and comprehensive benefits.
