Remote | Full-Time Contractor | U.S.-Based Tech Company (Confidential)
We’re hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join a U.S.-based technology company’s global engineering team. This is a 100% remote role, open exclusively to candidates located in Latin America, working in a fully English-speaking environment.
As an SDET, you will combine strong software engineering skills with a quality-first mindset to design, build, and maintain automated testing solutions for modern web applications. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and customer success teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and high-quality releases.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks using Cypress, BDD (Cucumber), and Page Object Model (POM)
- Participate in BDD practices such as Example Mapping and Three Amigos
- Apply shift-left testing principles to catch issues early
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket, CircleCI)
- Perform black-box and white-box testing for web applications and APIs
- Debug, maintain, and improve test automation pipelines
- Track and document defects using Jira
- Mentor junior engineers and promote testing best practices
- 4+ years working in Agile/SCRUM environments
- 3+ years as an SDET or QA Automation Engineer
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript or Java
- Hands-on experience with Cypress (Selenium acceptable as a substitute)
- Experience with Cucumber (Gherkin) and POM
- Solid understanding of HTML/CSS and ability to write SQL queries
- Experience with CI/CD tools
- Advanced English (spoken and written)
- Experience working with U.S.-based companies or distributed U.S. teams
- Experience with Playwright
- Exposure to A/B testing, accessibility, or security testing
- Familiarity with Docker, ECS, or Fargate
- Experience with SonarQube, JUnit, PHPUnit, or Pest
- Cloud experience and/or AWS certifications
- Cross-functional collaboration with Product and Customer Success teams
