The Opportunity

McElhanney is seeking an outgoing and technically proficient Financial Systems Manager to lead the management, optimization, and support of our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Reporting to the Controller, this role bridges Finance and Technology, ensuring the ERP platform meets the evolving needs of the business while maintaining data integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Finance or Accounting processes, hands-on experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, and proven leadership capabilities to manage a small team of Training & Support Specialists. The successful incumbent prioritizes learning new technology and thrives solving problems and communicating with stakeholders. Experience implementing, configuring, updating, testing, and training Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and/or Customer Engagement is preferred.

This role is posted to be based out of our Vancouver office; however, exceptions will be made for the ideal candidate.

What You’ll Do


  • Oversee configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the ERP and related systems.
  • Drive implementation and upgrade of the ERP and related systems.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, providing a client-focused approach to meet both day-to-day operational needs and long-term strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with other teams to streamline processes and automate routine tasks for continuous improvement.
  • Guide configuration decisions and process design, working closely with Finance & Accounting, Technology teams, and external partners.
  • Manage system updates and testing cycles, and serve as the escalation point for complex ERP issues.
  • Ensure financial data integrity within the ERP system and related dashboards and reports in collaboration with the Data & Analytics team.
  • Oversee user access and role management to support security best practices and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Help develop and deliver training programs and documentation for end users. Backfill frontline helpdesk support when needed from time to time.
  • Lead a small team of ERP Training & Support specialists, providing mentorship, performance reviews, career/goal setting, and fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous learning.
  • Provide presentations or reports to management regarding issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Take part in professional development to adapt knowledge and skills with changes in technology.


What You’ll Bring


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or accounting. Microsoft Certified Professional qualification is preferred.
  • Proven experience with implementation and/or configuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations is required.
  • 10+ years of work experience in Accounting, Project Accounting, and/or Financial Systems Management, with at least 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Solid understanding of project billing and resource assignment for the professional services industry is an asset.
  • Strong people skills and an excellent communicator, fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint. Advanced Excel is required including power query, pivot tables, and lookup functions. Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps is an asset.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team of direct reports.
  • Experience providing presentations, analyses, reports, and communicating with senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting deadlines and interests and gain support for strategic initiatives through leadership and change management.
  • A strong curiosity and desire for continuous learning in new technology transforming ERP, including improvements in reporting, automation, and artificial intelligence.


What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
