Job Description
Job Title: Product Designer - Design Engineer
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 12+ Months
Overview:
We are seeking a hybrid Product Designer / Design Technologist to lead the design and front-end implementation of a new in-app user experience.
This role will focus on creating intuitive, seamless workflows that enable users to engage effectively and accomplish their goals within the product.
The designer will serve as the lead contributor within a dedicated product pod, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and design stakeholders.
A well-established design system will be available to guide consistency and alignment. The role also includes responsibility for prototyping and developing front-end experiences to test, validate, and refine design intent.
Design Technologist (UI Dev / Design Engineer) — Role Focus:
- Hybrid practitioner who bridges design and engineering by using code to explore, validate, and deliver design intent.
- Prototype interactive experiences to communicate, test, and refine design direction.
- Implement designs for the target system or platform, ensuring seamless integration into production environments.
- Use front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to bring design concepts to life and validate feasibility.
- Ensure feasibility, accessibility, performance, and polish across the UI for production-quality experiences.
- Enhance and optimize user experience and communication flow, ensuring interactions are intuitive, responsive, and aligned with user needs.
- Experiment creatively to determine how design and UX can best support target users and personas through testing and iteration.
What You’ll Do:
- Own end-to-end design for new in-app experiences across mobile and web.
- Partner with Product SMEs to understand the product vision and translate it into tangible user experiences.
- Develop Figma designs and interactive prototypes to express and validate design intent.
- Work iteratively in short design cycles—rapidly concept, prototype, test, and refine.
- Bring strong UX thinking to both new workflows and the enhancement of existing ones.
- Design and run lightweight A/B tests or concept validations to explore variations and optimize UX for target users.
- Conduct user research, concept testing, and validation as needed to inform design decisions.
- Create high-fidelity visuals, interactions, and product experiences with a clean, modern aesthetic.
- Enhance and refine communication flows and interaction patterns to improve usability and user understanding.
- Translate design into front-end implementation when needed to prototype or validate feasibility (HTML, CSS, JS).
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to ensure feasibility, accessibility, performance, and polish.
- Experiment with AI-assisted design and prototyping tools to accelerate workflows and improve design-to-code precision.
What We’re Looking For:
- 4–7+ years of product design experience.
- Strong consumer or enterprise product background.
- Skilled in designing for both native mobile and web environments.
- High bar for craft, polish, and interaction detail.
- Strong UX strategy, problem-solving, and systems thinking capabilities.
- Prototyping fluency—translating ideas into interactive, testable experiences.
- Experience bridging design and front-end development to ensure smooth handoffs and feasible implementation.
- Familiarity with A/B testing, user validation, and data-informed design to refine and optimize user experiences.
- Proficiency or familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for building or validating interactive prototypes.
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced, iterative environments.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in early-stage product development or zero-to-one design initiatives.
- Background or interest in creative coding, motion design, or AI-enhanced prototyping.
- Experience working within or contributing to complex product ecosystems.
