Job Description


  • Title: Retail Private Investigator (Remote)
  • Engagement: Hourly contract (independent contractor)
  • Location: Remote – candidates based in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, Singapore, Dubai, or Australia who are legally able to work as independent contractors in their jurisdiction.


We are hiring for one of our clients seeking experienced retail investigation and asset protection professionals to contribute to AI evaluation and improvement projects.


Role Overview

In this role, you will apply your investigative, analytical, and loss prevention expertise to help evaluate and improve AI systems used in fraud detection, risk assessment, and security operations. No prior experience with artificial intelligence is required. Training and guidance will be provided.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze real-world retail investigation and loss prevention scenarios to assess AI reasoning and decision-making.
  • Produce clear, structured written explanations related to surveillance practices, fraud analysis, evidence handling, and incident reporting.
  • Review and evaluate AI-generated responses for legal accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational relevance.
  • Collaborate with research and engineering teams to improve AI understanding of investigative best practices, ethical standards, and security procedures.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in one or more of the following roles:
  • Private Investigator
  • Loss Prevention or Asset Protection Specialist
  • Security Manager (retail or corporate environments)
  • Valid investigator or security license where legally required in your jurisdiction.
  • Strong knowledge of retail theft prevention, fraud detection, and evidence documentation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, including professional report writing.
  • Legally authorized to work as an independent contractor in your country of residence.
