Procurement Manager, Utility-Scale Solar!

Location – Annapolis, MD or Remote EST, US


Summary

The Procurement Manager position is a newly created opportunity within a prominent fast-growing renewable energy developer and investment company. This full-time opportunity will join a nationally recognized team which is rapidly scaling and has successfully built a portfolio of nearly 4,000 MW of solar and battery projects over the last three years. Working closely with the firms leadership team and within their strong partnership with top development, O&M, and EPC firms, the Procurement Manager will own the strategy and execution of the end-to-end procurement cycle of assigned categories across utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. The Procurement Manager position will offer a competitive compensation package comprised of a base salary in the $125,000 range plus up to 25% annual bonus, and excellent benefits. This position will offer a fully remote flexible work schedule, however, will require occasional travel. Candidates should have focused experience within full cycle procurement duties with a deep understanding within supporting solar development and construction.


Procurement Manager – Job Description

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing procurement processes as well as supporting the Finance, Construction and Engineering teams.
  • Support the procurement division in developing and executing procurement strategies, vendor selection, term negotiation and contract executions and management.
  • Support the procurement division with issuing RFPs, hosting QBR and performing TCO analysis along with overseeing pre-construction logistics. The team plays a key role in ensuring cost competitiveness, supply reliability, and risk mitigation, while supporting the company’s growth in renewable energy development.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned categories
  • Conduct market intelligence, cost benchmarking, and supplier landscape analysis to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Lead competitive bidding (RFQ/RFP) processes, supplier selection, and total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Issues and manages purchase orders.
  • Tracks and reports procurement progress against project schedules, budgets, and market benchmarks.
  • Supports the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures.
  • Assist in conducting supplier due diligence, audits, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates execution of supplier QBRs
  • Liaise with vendors on delivery schedules, documentation, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain procurement databases and track KPIs.
  • Support pre-construction logistics coordination for assigned categories.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with technical, ESG, quality, and HSE requirements.
  • Maintain procurement trackers and databases.
  • Support cost benchmarking and market intelligence for renewable energy components.
  • Support the creation of reports for management on procurement KPIs, supplier performance, and risk exposure.


Procurement Manager – Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5 years in procurement, supply chain, or project support (renewable energy, construction, or manufacturing preferred).
  • Familiarity with PV modules, inverters, BESS, transformers, breakers, and their respective supply chains is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of contract and commercial terms
  • Highly Proficiency in MS Office, especially in Excel; ERP/procurement software experience is a plus.
