Job Description

Robotics & AI Engineer — Founding Team Member

・Company Overview

Muso Action is a Tokyo-based robotics startup with a mission to free humans from repetitive physical labor through Physical-AI.

We develop software and systems for general-purpose robot workers for logistics, manufacturing, and retail by integrating generative AI, Vision-Language-Action (VLA) foundation models, force control, and teleoperation.

We have raised approximately USD 1 million in our seed round and are now in an execution phase, running active proof-of-concept projects with major Japanese manufacturers and logistics companies.

Our focus is not research alone, but building deployable robotic systems that work reliably in real production environments.

・This Role Matters

This is not a typical engineering position.

You will join Muso Action as a founding-stage team member, playing a critical role in:

  • Shaping the company’s core technology
  • Defining early product architecture
  • Influencing the long-term technical and business direction

The systems you design and the code you write will become the foundation of the company.

・Role Summary

As a Robotics & AI Engineer, you will work across one or more of the following areas:

Foundation Models & Machine Learning (VLA)

  • Design data collection, training, and evaluation pipelines
  • Develop action representations and policies for robots
  • Improve success rate, robustness, and generalization
  • Build reproducible evaluation frameworks

Robot Control & Real-Time Systems

  • Implement real-time control loops in C++
  • Design force/torque sensing and safety mechanisms
  • Integrate learning-based policies with control stacks

Teleoperation & Full-Stack Robotics

  • Develop low-latency streaming and control interfaces (WebRTC)
  • Build robot-cloud pipelines (ROS2, gRPC)
  • Improve fleet management, logging, and monitoring

・Basic Qualifications (One or More)

  • Experience with Python / PyTorch for ML training or inference
  • C++ experience in robotics or real-time systems
  • Full-stack or cloud-connected system development experience
  • Strong ownership and ability to work in ambiguous environments

・Preferred Qualifications

  • ROS2, WebRTC, EtherCAT, RTOS
  • Force control, motor control, hardware-close development
  • MLOps, data pipelines, experiment tracking
  • Field deployment of robotics systems
  • OSS contributions or research publications

・Employment Details

  • Location: Tokyo (hybrid; on-site for hardware testing)
  • Employment Type: Full-time (contract / intern negotiable)
  • Work Style: Flexible / discretionary working hours
  • Benefits: Social insurance, paid leave, stock options

・Compensation

Annual salary range: approximately USD 55,000 – 125,000, depending on role, experience, and responsibilities.

・Support for International Candidates (Japan Relocation)

  • Full support for Japanese work visa sponsorship
  • Assistance with immigration documents and procedures
  • Relocation guidance (housing, banking, daily setup)

・Why Join Now

  • You will help build the company from the ground up
  • Your work directly impacts real customers and deployments
  • This is a rare opportunity to shape both technology and organization at an early stage
