A leader in AI-powered marketing solutions, is currently looking for an experienced Senior Global Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations across the U.S., Canada, and additional global regions. The ideal candidate brings deep compliance expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and hands-on experience managing payroll for multiple countries. This role requires strong knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations and Canadian payroll—specifically British Columbia (BC) and Ontario (ON)—with the ability to interpret and apply complex statutory requirements.
You will own payroll end-to-end, manage third-party vendors, partner with HR and Finance, and ensure accurate, timely, and fully compliant payroll processing across all regions.
The company expects to pay a base salary in the range of $92,000 to 127,000 USD base plus bonuses. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
We are open to candidates in the US to work remotely in the Pacific time zone.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Global Payroll Operations
- Lead end-to-end payroll processing for employees in the U.S. and Canada (with expert-level focus on BC and ON), as well as other international locations.
- Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all federal, state, provincial, and local regulations.
- Validate calculations for U.S. federal/state taxes and Canadian EI, CPP, provincial taxes, employer health tax (ON), statutory holiday pay, vacation entitlements, and termination requirements.
- Manage payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and benefits changes.
- Reconcile payroll reports and partner with Accounting on month-end close activities.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for U.S. payroll laws and Canadian payroll compliance in BC and Ontario.
- Maintain compliance with employment standards, tax laws, statutory benefits, remittances, year-end reporting, and record-keeping requirements.
- Lead year-end filings including W-2/W-3, T4/T4A, ROEs, and other statutory documents.
- Monitor legislative changes across regions and update internal processes accordingly.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring strong internal controls.
Vendor & Systems Management
- Manage relationships with payroll vendors, global payroll providers, and EOR partners.
- Oversee SLAs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless payroll operations across countries.
- Optimize payroll systems, automation, and data integrity across HRIS and accounting platforms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and international teams on payroll requirements, compensation changes, and global expansion.
- Assist with payroll setup in new countries, including compliance research, system configuration, and vendor selection.
- Provide payroll expertise and guidance to leaders and employees across time zones.
Reporting & Analytics
- Prepare payroll summaries, reconciliations, and variance analyses for leadership.
- Track payroll expenses, headcount changes, statutory accruals, and audit documentation.
- Recommend process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
What You’ll Need to be Successful

- Must Have:
- 8–10+ years of payroll experience, including 3+ years supporting multi-country payroll.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of U.S. payroll, including federal, state, and local taxes, wage laws, and year-end filings.
- Expert understanding of British Columbia and Ontario payroll, including EI/CPP, provincial taxes, statutory holidays, vacation rules, employment standards, and year-end reporting (T4/T4A, ROEs).
- Experience with global payroll providers (UKG, Deel, Remote, Paylocity, etc.) and HRIS integrations. UKG is a must.
- Proven track record of owning payroll processes end-to-end with high accuracy.
- Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Desired Skills (but not required):
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional), PCP/CPM (Canadian Payroll certifications), or Global Payroll Certification.
- Experience supporting a distributed or hyper-growth workforce.
- Experience working with EOR structures and global expansion.
