Compensation Details
- Product Owner 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, or Brossard.

The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
You will serve as the technical leader and subject matter expert for EDC’s well-established network infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of EDC’s network environment and evolving business needs. Your focus will be on guiding and influencing the managed service provider responsible for maintaining and supporting our network. Acting as the voice of leadership, you will ensure alignment between EDC’s objectives and service delivery, drive continuous improvement, and safeguard performance, security, and reliability across all networking services.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to negotiate diplomatically, de-escalate issues, and find creative solutions to complex problems, while building strong relationships across internal teams and external vendors that are providing our service levels and operational objectives.
What You Will Be Doing
Strategic Oversight & Governance:
- Ability to translate business needs into network strategies and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Skilled in vendor management and governance frameworks to maintain accountability and performance.
- Comprehensive understanding of enterprise network architecture, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud connectivity.
- Capacity to assess and validate technical recommendations and decisions made by vendors and service providers.
- Strong ability to lead without direct operational control, influencing external teams and stakeholders.
- Proven experience fostering collaboration and driving outcomes through partnership.
- Expertise in network security principles and proactive risk mitigation.
- Ability to ensure resilience and continuity in a managed services model.
- Exceptional communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to represent EDC’s interests in tactical discussions with service providers and vendors.
- Maintain a forward-looking perspective by staying current on emerging technology trends relevant to EDC’s environment, including AI, AIOps, DevOps, and automation.
- Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, and implement changes through influence, governance, and technical alignment.
- Undergraduate Degree or college diploma in Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience managing and maintaining network infrastructure and services.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Network Manager, Network Product/Platform Owner, or Network Team Lead, with experience in Stakeholder Management, Roadmap Development, Execution Planning/Prioritization, and Lifecycle Management.
- Deep understanding and experience in all aspects of the Network Lifecycle, including technologies such as Software Defined Networking (SDN); LAN/WAN/Data Center, Firewall/Edge, SWG/SASE, DDI, NAC, NDR, and NLB.
- Experience in cloud networking services and hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), with auditing and compliance attestation (CIS, NIST, or ISO).
- Experience in ITSM/ITOM.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, critical and strategic thinking, time management, priority planning and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills with stakeholder management.
- High level of initiative and ownership.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Collaborative mindset with a problem-solving attitude.
- Network certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher.
- Cloud certifications: Azure Network Engineer Associate or similar.
- Product Owner Certifications (Agile): Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner / Project Manager (PO/PM).
- ITSM/ITOM Certifications: ServiceNow, ITIL.
- Experience in all aspects of the Network Lifecycle using Cisco technologies.
- Experience in cloud networking services and hybrid cloud environments using Azure and VMware technologies.
- Experience in ITSM/ITOM using ServiceNow Platform.
- Bilingual in both official languages (English and French).
