Tasks

As a Robot Learning Research Engineer, you will design, implement, and evaluate novel machine learning algorithms for humanoid and industrial robots. You will work at the intersection of computer vision, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and control systems, developing models that enable robots to understand the world and acquire new skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply Vision Language Action (VLA) models, multimodal transformers, and large foundation models to enable advanced robot perception, reasoning, and decision-making.
  • Research and implement state-of-the-art robot learning methods, including reinforcement learning (RL), imitation learning, policy optimization, and sim-to-real transfer.
  • Build scalable pipelines for robot data collection, simulation-to-reality transfer, and continual learning across digital twins and real-world deployment.
  • Integrate algorithms with motion planning, sensor fusion, and SLAM to enable robust humanoid autonomy.

Profil

  • Master's or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Practical experience with real-time robotic controllers and hands-on work with robotic hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
  • Experience with robotic platforms and simulators (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, PyBullet, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS 2 and proficiency in Python and C++.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and collaborative skills.
  • EU Citizenship and relocation to Austria (Graz - Pischelsdorf Area)

Nice To Have Qualifications

  • Experience working with humanoid robots, bipedal locomotion, or dexterous manipulation.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and edge AI deployment.
  • Familiarity with tools for distributed and large-scale training.

Wir bieten

(EU Citizenship Is Required For This Role)

  • This is a startup-like environment within a well-established global engineering company - ideal for engineers who want autonomy, innovation, and impact.
  • Opportunity to push the boundaries of robot learning research with real-world industrial impact.
  • Access to state-of-the-art humanoid robotic platforms and scalable high-performance computing resources.
  • Collaborative, interdisciplinary, and international environment.
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and relocation support.
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid/remote work possibilities
  • Opportunity to work on a greenfield project with high visibility and executive support
  • Collaborative and innovation-driven environment, backed by Rosendahl Nextrom's global reach
  • Access to internal and external training, conferences, and technical mentorship

We are prepared to pay above the standard rate and will determine your salary together with you. The collective agreement for the Austrian metalworking industry serves as a basis, with a minimum gross salary of €4.492,58 per month for full-time employment on all-inclusive basis.
