Job Description


You'll be a senior individual contributor who owns the design, delivery, and operational health of our most complex systems. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, healthcare integrations, and production reliability.

Expect 50-70% hands-on coding and design, with the remainder focused on deployments, production support, security, and technical leadership. You'll be the person others call when a release is risky, a migration is scary, an integration is messy, or production is noisy.

What You'll Do

Platform & Integrations Architecture

  • Own and lead architectural decisions for new systems, partnering closely with product, security, and engineering leadership
  • Write clear RFCs and design docs, and guide execution across teams
  • Build and evolve backend services and web apps using TypeScript
  • Support and evolve data pipelines used for analytics and product features
  • Work on AI-powered systems (e.g., voice AI agents, AI workflows)
  • Design, build, and maintain SMART on FHIR and HL7v2 integrations
  • Periodically join customer implementation calls to unblock complex integration work

Deployments, Reliability, Security & Compliance

  • Own and improve deployment pipelines, including CDK infrastructure, application deployments and database migrations
  • Support multi-region uptime, disaster recovery planning, and backup/restore practices
  • Be hands-on in production support and incident response when needed
  • Lead the migration to capturing 100% of our cloud infrastructure in AWS CDK
  • Maintain and harden AWS infrastructure with a strong security mindset
  • Partner with Security on vulnerability remediation, SLA timelines, and SOC 2 / HIPAA

Technical Leadership

  • Do deep, thoughtful code reviews & mentor engineers as the team grows
  • Set standards for how we ship, deploy, and operate software at scale

Requirements

  • 8+ years building and operating production software
  • Strong TypeScript experience
  • Proven experience with AWS (e.g., Lambda, ECS, CloudWatch) using CDK
  • Experience shipping complex systems with real uptime and security requirements
  • Healthcare experience (SMART on FHIR, HL7v2, Redox, HIPAA, SOC 2, Epic/Cerner)
  • Experience in early-stage, venture-backed startups where ownership is broad
  • Strong written communication skills (design docs, RFCs, incident write-ups)
  • Actively using modern AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code + MCPs) in day-to-day work
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • US-based, able to work CST/EST hours (contractual requirement)
