Job Description
Our client is looking for a freelance 3D artist with strong look-dev and material expertise to create a custom fuzzy / tactile texture for branded 3D assets.
Timing: ASAP (delivery mid–late January)
Duration: 2–4 weeks
Pay: $45–55/hr.
Location: Fully remote
This project is focused on material exploration and surface realism (not complex modeling). You’ll be developing a premium, soft, dimensional texture that can function as a background and interact with a product can.
What you’ll do:
- Create a custom fuzzy / fiber-based 3D material from scratch
- Explore 2–3 texture approaches (procedural, shader-based, or hair/fiber systems)
- Refine surface detail, density, and lighting for a polished, on-brand look
- Apply the texture in context (e.g., can resting on or within the surface)
- Deliver assets optimized for stills and short motion loops (if needed)
What we’re looking for:
- Strong background in 3D look development, materials, and surface texturing
- Experience creating tactile materials (felt, velvet, microfiber, fur-like textures)
- Proficiency in Cinema 4D (Redshift/Octane), Blender (Cycles), and/or Houdini
- Solid understanding of lighting and rendering for material realism
- Portfolio with close-up material or surface studies
