Stream A Level 6 - $100,017 plus superannuation

What We Are Looking For
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role that sits at the intersection of finance, infrastructure and community growth. As Council’s Financial Accountant for Development and Infrastructure Agreements, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the correct recognition of revenue, assets, liabilities and expenses linked to trunk infrastructure projects.
In This Role You Will
- Strengthen governance, transparency and accountability across infrastructure agreements.
- Ensure accurate financial recognition of infrastructure charges, offsets, assets and liabilities.
- Provide expert financial advice during infrastructure agreement negotiations.
- Collaborate with Development, Engineering and Asset Management teams to ensure accurate asset classification and valuation.
- Lead continuous improvement of accounting processes, tools and systems.
- Support Council’s long-term financial planning by aligning financial forecasts with infrastructure commitments.
What You’ll Need For Success
- Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor Degree or above) in accounting or business studies and/or demonstrated practical experience commensurate with the position requirements.
- Experience in complex financial accounting and reporting, ideally in government or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards relevant to asset recognition and revenue recognition.
- Strong understanding of the Planning Act 2016, Local Government Act 2009, and infrastructure charge frameworks.
- Ability to develop financial systems, registers, and processes that improve transparency and accountability.
- High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy to financial transactions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders.
- Effective time management skills, including but not limited to, working independently, setting priorities, setting and meeting deadlines and organising own workloads.
- Class C Driver's licence
- CPA Membership or other accounting professional membership
- Experience in Local Government in infrastructure accounting or developer contributions.
