The Cybersecurity Specialist will support security operations, compliance, monitoring, and risk management across enterprise federal systems. This role ensures adherence to federal cybersecurity standards (NIST, FISMA, IRS/PCI, etc.) and works closely with IT, governance, and security teams to safeguard critical information assets.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze security alerts, logs, and events using SIEM tools.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, remediation tracking, and compliance reporting.
  • Support security incident response, investigation, documentation, and recovery.
  • Implement and review cybersecurity policies in alignment with NIST 800-53, IRS Publication 1075, FISMA, and federal frameworks.
  • Manage security tools such as EDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, email security, and cloud security platforms.
  • Assist with audits, ATO documentation, POA&M updates, and federal security reviews.
  • Evaluate system risks and support security controls implementation.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and cloud teams to ensure secure architecture.

๐Ÿง  Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3โ€“7 years of cybersecurity or information security experience.
  • Strong understanding of NIST RMF, FISMA, FedRAMP, and federal compliance.
  • Experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanners (Qualys, Nessus, Rapid7).
  • Knowledge of EDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and email/web security systems.
  • Understanding of incident response lifecycle and security monitoring.
  • Experience working in federal agencies preferred (IRS, HHS, DHS, DoD, etc.).
  • MBI or Public Trust clearance required (Active or eligible).

๐ŸŽ“ Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certifications are a plus: Security+, CEH, CySA+, GSEC, CISSP (preferred).
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of IRS Publication 1075 or Treasury security frameworks (a strong plus).
