Job Description

Are you ready to take on a hands-on cyber security and IT leadership role in a small, forward-thinking team supporting Australia’s renewable energy transition?

This newly created position sits at the heart of the business, giving you ownership of cyber security, IT, operational technology, and internal systems. You’ll ensure systems are secure, resilient, and efficient while supporting 24/7 operations across wind, solar, and battery assets in the NEM.

It’s a high-trust, hands-on role: you’ll lead strategy, work closely with external vendors and MSPs, and be the subject matter expert the team relies on for all things cyber, IT, and OT.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the organisation’s cyber security roadmap using AESCSF as a guiding framework
  • Provide clear, practical security advice to the CEO, Directors and external stakeholders
  • Oversee cyber, IT and OT risks across operational assets and internal systems
  • Manage the MSP and ensure the delivery of timely, high‑quality support and upgrades
  • Support secure development of internal software tools and dashboards
  • Identify new technology opportunities, including AI and automation for efficiency and alerting
  • Maintain security and compliance across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra, Intune, PIM, Defender and Purview
  • Maintain visibility across monitoring, alerts, permissions and reporting
  • Work with AEMO systems, SCADA vendors and automated bidding platforms
  • Maintain strong cyber hygiene: device hardening, Intune policies, BitLocker, identity controls
  • Support audits, penetration tests and ongoing maturity improvements

This is the type of role where you won’t get lost in layers of bureaucracy - you’ll be shaping the way the organisation operates today and into the future.

Who we’re looking for

  • Strong experience implementing cyber security in Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Background in the energy sector, ideally utility‑scale generation
  • Exposure to OT or SCADA environments
  • Experience working with or applying AESCSF
  • Able to translate technical details
  • Calm, pragmatic and able to work independently

Nice to have: familiarity with AEMO systems (EMMS, MSATS, VPNs, APIs), IEC‑62443, Python/SQL, GitHub.

Why this role is exciting

  • Fully remote work from anywhere in Australia. No commute, no noise - just meaningful work in a critical sector
  • Hands-on role with direct influence on strategy, day-to-day operations, and the evolution of cyber security and IT practices as the organisation scales
  • Work in a small, growing team supporting 24/7 renewable energy operations
