Job Description

Product ManagerDecentralized Network Protocols & Systems

Location: Remote (Americas or Europe time zones preferred)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Snowstorm is a decentralized microproxy network that advances censorship resistance, privacy, and global internet freedom. Snowstorm is the V2 and evolution of the snowflake pluggable transport, brought to you by the original creator of snowflake, which has already been well proven to defend users’ access to the global free internet in many contexts; when VPNs fail, and even in warzones. However, Snowflake was merely a prototype from a decade ago and hit known limits; hence, Snowstorm arose by necessity to deliver a vastly upgraded system. The core infrastructure revolutionizes peer-to-peer networking, multi-hop routing, dynamic traffic obfuscation, cryptographically secure transports, and more, laying the groundwork for shifting the internet's architecture for the benefit of humanity. Snowstorm’s mission is to protect everyone’s ability to access the global free and open internet. To do so truly sustainably, with integrity, and with wisdom encompassing the long-term.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Product Manager who is deeply passionate about user relations and market-driven feedback systems and growth to drive Snowstorm’s product strategy for end customers—from ordinary internet users to enthusiasts, activists, dissidents, journalists, enterprises, NGOs, and many other context-specific categories. The Product Manager must own end-to-end strategy, relationship management, metrics, and execution for Snowstorm’s product, engineering, and business requirements in the context of the users we serve. The position requires extensive aptitude for collaborating with engineers, researchers, and end-users across dynamic, potentially high-stakes, cutting-edge projects, ideally with experience in network protocols, cryptography, and circumvention tools, open-source community management, real-time threat modeling, robust privacy primitives, and adversarial modelling. The role emphasizes understanding user needs, optimizing customer journeys, and shaping market adoption of privacy technologies in a dynamically evolving global environment. You’ll define requirements, metrics, collaborate on intuitive experiences, and position Snowstorm as the top solution for digital sovereignty, freedom, and privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the product lifecycle of snowstorm.net's distributed microproxy network.

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing internal development sprints within cross-functional teams. Skilled at translating product requirements into actionable sprint goals, defining clear acceptance criteria, and maintaining alignment between engineering, design, and business stakeholders through structured sprint rituals. Proficient in backlog grooming, sprint tracking, and performance retrospectives to ensure continuous delivery and iterative improvement. Adept at applying agile methodologies to balance scope, velocity, and technical priorities while sustaining strong communication across distributed teams.

  • Steward the go-to-market roadmap for both consumer adoption and enterprise partnerships, integrating product-led growth principles.

  • Lead user research and behavioral analysis to deeply understand the needs of global users facing online censorship, filtering, or connectivity barriers.

  • Identify and drive the implementation of onboarding and other monetization strategies, including gamification-based features.

  • Partner with community and customer operations to convert feedback into prioritized product enhancements while minimizing internal operational and communications overhead, while managing user expectations positively.

  • Build scalable frameworks for product analytics, experimentation (A/B testing), and lifecycle management. Define, track, and optimize KPIs including daily active use, retention rate, conversion funnels, and market penetration. Set goals around user adoption, engagement, and satisfaction; monitor and report on KPIs such as retention, NPS, and support ticket categories.

  • Network performance - measure how robust, responsive, and censorship-resistant our decentralized network is.

  • User Experience and Adoption KPIs - determine how effectively Snowstorm meets user expectations and scales its community.

  • Business and Growth KPIs connecting network performance to sustainable business operations, including but not limited to:

  • Develop and prioritize product experiences that are accessible, intuitive, and reliable for non-technical audiences while supporting advanced use cases for power users and developers that will make decentralized networking seamless for end users and developers alike.

  • Partner with marketing and growth teams to position Snowstorm in key segments: privacy-first consumers, global NGOs, journalists, and enterprise security buyers.

  • Collaborate with engineering and design to refine onboarding, user flows, documentation, and UX best practices for desktop, mobile, and browser extensions.

  • Drive the development of educational and support communications and materials, aiming to boost user confidence and retention.

  • Advocate for users internally, ensuring feedback loops between customer support, community advocates, and product roadmaps.

  • Lead research to uncover pain points of target users facing censorship, surveillance, or restricted access, translating insights into actionable product design and messaging.

  • Analyze market feedback, usage data, and conversion metrics to inform feature prioritization and product iteration.

  • Conduct competitive and market analysis to map Snowstorm’s differentiation, pricing potential, and segmented growth opportunities. Analysis to span privacy networks, VPNs, and proxy products, regularly benchmarking user experience, pricing models, and market messaging.

  • Qualifications

    • 5+ years of product management experience, with a focus on end-user applications, communications, decentralized networks, and/or infosecurity products.

    • 3-5 years of experience as an engineer with a passion for internet freedom, digital rights, and user empowerment.

    • Track record in planning, coordinating, and executing internal development sprints within cross-functional teams.

    • Track record transforming complex technologies into easy and delightful user experiences for broad markets and diverse cultures.

    • Passion for internet freedom, digital rights, and user empowerment.

    • Experience supporting global user bases, especially regions experiencing censorship or connectivity challenges.
