Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Human Resources will serve as a business partner and advisor to both the CHRO and functional leadership, overseeing most aspects of human resources management. This role will lead employee programs and HR operations to support a growing biotechnology organization. The ideal candidate is a very hands-on HR professional experienced in remote HR operations within a life sciences or high-growth environment, with strong working experience in onboarding/offboarding, employee benefits, employee programs (for example, social events, and rewards & recognition), performance management, managing electronic personnel folders, and year-end HR housekeeping (for example, calculating annual bonus payouts, and annual merit increases)
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Partner with executive leadership to align HR strategy with business objectives and company growth plans.
• Develop and implement HR policies, programs, and initiatives that promote organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.
• Support the company’s mission, values, and culture through proactive leadership and communication.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
• Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, ensuring fair and consistent treatment.
• Manage performance review processes, goal setting, and employee recognition programs.
• Mediate and resolve employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
Compensation, Benefits & Compliance
• Work with CHRO on compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitiveness and compliance.
• Manage our outsourced employee benefits vendor ensuring an exceptional level of service is given to our employees.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Maintain HR systems, employee records, and reporting accuracy
Organizational Effectiveness & Culture
• Foster a collaborative workplace culture aligned with the company’s mission and values.
• Drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement, retention, and workplace satisfaction (including experience driving employee engagement (for example, employee satisfaction surveys).
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required; master’s degree or HR certification (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive HR experience
• Experience in small/ startup/ biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences strongly preferred.
• Experience working 100% remotely and having managed HR operations in a remote environment.
• Experience managing HR compliance (SOX) with a public company strongly preferred.
• Solid working understanding of federal employment laws and HR best practices.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, remote environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust and influence across all levels of the organization.
• Must have a very strong attention to detail and enjoy working deep in the details.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Excel & PowerPoint, as well as a generally strong affinity for new HR technologies (AI, HRIS, ATS)
