Job Description


Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of TEC-SWC – Software & Control Systems Engineering.

Specific Tasks

  • Support definition of AOCS requirements and contribute to the elaboration of System/Mission Requirements related to AOCS domain.
  • Support analyses and trade-offs for AOCS systems, software, and hardware units.
  • Support monitoring the industrial activities concerning design and development of AOCS systems, software, and hardware units for ESA projects.
  • Support the Review of the project documentation as produced throughout the project lifetime in AOCS and Pointing engineering, as well as interface documented information from System and spacecraft subsystems.
  • Support the procurement of AOCS hardware units for AOCS subsystem (trade-off, requirements definition, participation to hardware reviews, keypoints,..).
  • Provide support during execution of R&D activities for mission enabling AOCS system concepts, AOCS simulation modelling, AOCS systems model-based engineering, machine learning application to AOCS systems, and advanced guidance, control, navigation/estimation, and optimization techniques.
  • Support laboratory activities to evaluate and prototype new AOCS systems, functions/algorithms and sensors.
  • Assist ongoing projects with the design implementation, prototyping, testing, evaluation, benchmarking, debugging, and validation on the corresponding facility.
  • Perform integration, functional and performance testing of relevant hardware and software elements in the facility.

Qualification Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in adequate fields, such as Control Engineering and/or Aerospace Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the design, tuning, analysis and simulation of AOCS systems in different project phases.
  • HW knowledge (sensors, computer, actuators).
  • AOCS AIT at subsystem and system level.
  • Proven knowledge of commercial model-based design tools (MATLAB).
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.

Legal And Security Requirements

  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA.
  • Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident.

Location

The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Contract

  • The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line with ESA Job Class.
  • Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands.
  • The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
  • Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included.
  • Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially.
  • Aurora contributes 15,4% of pensionable salary to a company pension scheme and employees can optionally make additional contributions.
