Job Description
SW Engineer - Ruby, RoR
This is a fully remote position, but only within Czechia.
Our client is a mature US tech startup on a mission to transform the energy industry by building the world’s leading energy analytics platform. The market data intelligence platform helps make business critical decisions, perform macro analysis, do granular deep dives on specific opportunities, and ultimately increase profits and minimize greenhouse gas emissions.
The company is backed by leading global energy investors and has offices in Austin and Houston in the US, London and Edinburgh in the UK, and Singapore. The Engineering organization is distributed with sw developers based in Vietnam, Czechia, the US and other countries.
As part of the ongoing growth of the company and the engineering team in particular, we are looking to add a passionate Software Engineer based in Czechia ( the person can be based anywhere within the borders of CZ).
Platform Development team
The platform's tech stack is Ruby ( RoR), Python ( for automation, data science and data engineering, web and data scraping, etc) and React for the front-end.
We are looking for a Ruby / RoR sw engineer first, who is open and interested in solving different engineering problems, frameworks and technologies (listed below):
- Advanced knowledge of Ruby / RoR
- Experience with frontend technologies (e.g., React, Plotly, etc.) would be benefitial
- Good understanding of NoSQL, SQL and Object-Relational Mapping
- Design and build GraphQL schema and RESTful APIs
- Strong advocate of automated tests
- Experience with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
- Favor automation over manual steps (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI, Docker, CloudFormation, Serverless, etc.)
- Highly organized, able to compare and prioritize tasks to ensure continued focus on business objectives
Other details:
- This is a fully remote position, but only within Czechia, applicants from other locations will not be considered, this is not a global remote role.
- Cooperation via a sole trader licence ( OSVC in Czech)
- Very good communication skills in English are a must have
