Job Description

Part-Time HR Manager

Stealth Web3 Startup | Remote | 20-25 hours per week

About Us

We are a well-funded stealth-mode web3 company building innovative blockchain infrastructure.

While we're operating in stealth, we're moving fast and scaling our team globally. We're looking for an experienced HR professional who thrives in early-stage, high-growth environments and understands the unique dynamics of web3 talent.

About the Role

We're hiring a Part-Time HR Manager (20-25 hours per week) to help scale our people operations.

You'll work closely with our teams to build hiring processes, shape company culture, establish compensation frameworks, and create the operational infrastructure that enables us to attract and retain top talent in an incredibly competitive market.

This role is ideal for an experienced HR generalist who wants meaningful ownership, enjoys building systems from scratch, and is energized by the autonomy and impact that comes with early-stage companies.

What You'll Do

Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Design and deliver exceptional onboarding experiences for new hires joining a remote-first, global team
  • Create employee handbooks, policies, and documentation that reflect our values and legal requirements
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employee questions on benefits, policies, and workplace matters
  • Foster engagement and connection in a distributed team environment

Compensation & Benefits

  • Develop competitive compensation frameworks that account for global talent markets, crypto-native expectations, and equity/token packages
  • Research and implement benefits programs suitable for a distributed, international workforce
  • Manage relationships with EOR (Employer of Record) providers and benefits vendors
  • Advise leadership on compensation decisions and market benchmarking

Compliance & Operations

  • Ensure compliance with employment law across multiple jurisdictions
  • Manage employee contracts, documentation, and record-keeping
  • Coordinate with legal and finance on employment-related matters
  • Navigate the complexities of hiring contractors vs. employees internationally
  • Establish HR systems and tools (HRIS, payroll, benefits administration)

Culture & Performance

  • Help shape and reinforce company culture, values, and ways of working
  • Support performance management processes and difficult conversations when needed
  • Provide coaching to managers on people-related challenges
  • Identify and address potential team dynamics or morale issues proactively

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • 5+ years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a generalist or HR manager capacity
  • Startup experience required - you've built HR functions from scratch or been an early HR hire (0-100 employees)
  • Remote/distributed team expertise - you understand the unique challenges of managing people across time zones and cultures
  • Strong understanding of global employment practices and experience with EOR solutions (Deel, Remote, Oyster, etc.)
  • Excellent judgment and discretion when handling sensitive matters
  • Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Practical, solutions-oriented approach - you focus on what works, not what's perfect

Highly Desirable

  • Web3/crypto industry experience - you understand token compensation and crypto-native talent expectations
  • Background in fast-growing venture-backed companies
  • Knowledge of equity and token compensation structures
  • Familiarity with offshore/international team structures and tax implications
  • Experience with HR tech stack (BambooHR, Greenhouse, Ashby, or similar)

Nice to Have

  • HR certification
  • Experience with employment law in key jurisdictions (US, UK, EU)
  • Existing network in the web3/crypto talent community

Working at Our Company

Flexibility & Autonomy

  • 20-25 hours per week, flexible scheduling (we care about outcomes, not hours)
  • 100% remote - work from anywhere
  • High degree of ownership and decision-making authority
  • Minimal meetings, maximum impact

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate or monthly retainer (commensurate with experience)
  • Potential for equity/token allocation
  • Flexibility to structure arrangement as contractor or part-time employee
  • Opportunity to grow into full-time role as company scales

Team & Culture

  • Work directly with founders and leadership team
  • Lean, high-performance team of exceptional individuals
  • Low ego, high trust environment
  • Mission-driven work on meaningful problems in decentralized technology
