Job Purpose

The Enterprise Relationship Marketing Department is seeking a Social Media Assistant Manager to lead the strategy and implementation of all social media efforts for the Honda auto brand. You will work closely with several internal and external partners to increase brand awareness, engage customers across all parts of the customer journey, support sales and increase operational and budget efficiencies. This role leads the Honda Autos unit of the Enterprise Relationship Marketing Department, the brand’s complex roster of agencies and vendors, and manage the Honda social media budget to drive change at social’s demanding pace.

Key Accountabilities

Relationship Marketing and Social Content Strategy

  • Lead social media strategy for Honda’s owned channels, including more than 10 channels and a community of more than 15 million followers
  • Lead all auto paid social media campaigns including vehicle and brand campaigns, retail efforts, social moments, partnerships and experiential campaigns
  • Analyze social listening data and performance metrics to identify key audience needs and create content strategies that deliver personalized marketing experiences
  • Develop strategies that grow the Honda community and deliver KPIs across the full customer journey including awareness and qualified site visits
  • Create standard operating practices to strengthen brand reputation and mitigate risk on social platforms
  • Drive collaboration with marketing, PR, sales and product planning to inform social editorial strategy and align with organizational goals from ideation through analysis

Agency and Vendor Management

  • Identify and onboard new social media content vendors to support growing asset needs and drive cost and time efficiencies
  • Negotiate terms and service level expectations with vendors to ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Define and communicate key performance indicators and expected outcomes to vendors
  • Facilitate vendor onboarding to ensure understanding of the brand, culture and guidelines
  • Oversee creation of campaign briefs for partners and agencies
  • Manage vendor budgets and track expenses to ensure alignment with agreements
  • Assess vendor performance and decide on renewals, renegotiations or terminations

Internal Team Management

  • Supervise two direct reports across strategy, analytics and campaign development
  • Serve as senior point of contact for potential crisis management
  • Identify impactful industry and platform updates and guide the team on implementation
  • Define future business plans for the Honda Social team

Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications

  • BA or BS in marketing, communications or related work experience

Minimum Experience

  • Seven to ten years of experience in communications, marketing or social media management with at least four years supporting large brands
  • In depth knowledge of major social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook
  • Deep understanding of the automotive and motorsports industries

Other Job Specific Skills

  • Proficiency in paid, owned and earned social media
  • Experience mitigating and resolving brand risk and crises
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams at all levels
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills to identify opportunities and risks within social media activities
  • Ability to adapt quickly to evolving technologies and industry trends
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under tight deadlines
  • Creative thinker with a strong eye for design aesthetics
  • Skilled in analyzing data and extracting insights to improve social media performance
  • Passion for vehicles and social media
  • Professional certifications in social media management, AI or related fields are a plus
  • Ability to speak, read and write multiple languages including Spanish, Mandarin, Korean or Vietnamese

Working Conditions

  • Seventy five percent normal office conditions including desk work, laptop use, meetings and conference calls
  • Twenty five percent on set content production, event support and travel
  • Remote work style
  • Relocation available
  • Occasional night and weekend hours with overtime available
