Role and Responsibilities Overview:
- Work with the data strategy team of a large insurer to support them in data, analytics and data structuring assignments
- Work with underwriting systems as a BA
- Work with underwriting teams to understand business rules, risk assessment criteria, and compliance requirements and translate these into functional and non-functional requirements
- Document current underwriting workflows and identify inefficiencies.
- Recommend process improvements aligned with system capabilities.
- Collaborate with developers and QA teams to ensure underwriting logic is correctly implemented.
- Create test cases and validate system outputs against underwriting guidelines.
- Act as a liaison between underwriters, IT teams, and data teams.
- Ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
- Ensure underwriting systems adhere to regulatory standards (e.g., insurance regulations, data privacy laws).
- Validate that data flowing into underwriting systems is accurate and complete.
- Work with data teams to ensure proper integration with downstream systems (e.g., policy admin, analytics).
- Work on re-structuring with the data strategy team
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Intelligence, Business Analytics, or Data Engineering.
- Experience as a Business Analyst with experience in the Insurance industry
- Deep understanding of insurance underwriting processes, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with underwriting systems (e.g., Guidewire PolicyCenter, Duck Creek, or custom platforms).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, ensuring effective time management and organizational efficiency.
- Advanced problem-solving capabilities with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adept at handling evolving requirements.
- Practical experience with at least one BI reporting tool such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a commitment to taking ownership of issues and delivering resolutions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams, demonstrating cultural awareness and adaptability.
- Highly self-motivated, capable of working independently as well as within cross-functional teams.
