About the Opportunity:
This organization is modernizing HR compliance training by providing engaging, mobile-first solutions that promote safer and more inclusive workplaces. The Senior Engineering Manager will lead the web development team, drive the engineering roadmap, mentor remote engineers, and support the integration of AI technologies into the organization’s SaaS products.
Responsibilities:
• Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of 6+ web engineers
• Act as a product thought leader and liaison between engineering and product teams
• Drive employee engagement, motivation, and career development
• Recruit engineering talent and help shape team culture
• Provide technical direction for web development using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, React, and similar technologies
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions
• Spearhead development of AI-powered features and enhancements
• Guide prototyping, evaluation, and implementation of AI-driven solutions
• Apply an MVP-first, iterative approach to product development
• Design and implement processes for new and existing initiatives
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle
• Ensure best practices in Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Set engineering KPIs and ensure on-time, high-quality code delivery
• Optimize workflows and remove bottlenecks in partnership with DevOps and QA
Requirements:
• 10+ years of experience building and launching production-grade software in SaaS or similar industries
• 3+ years of experience managing remote teams (5+ engineers) in dynamic, international environments
• Proven experience in high-growth startup settings
• Portfolio of shipped web applications with significant AI-driven features
• Expertise in Ruby on Rails, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern CI/CD workflows
• Strong background in software architecture, AI/ML, API design, and scalable systems
• Experience leading complex engineering projects from conception to execution
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration ability
