About The Role
The Human Resources Generalist II - Employee Relations position at Fairfield offers a unique opportunity for an experienced HR professional to support and enhance the company's employee relations initiatives. This hybrid role involves working closely with managers and associates to address complex workplace issues, conduct thorough investigations, and provide strategic guidance on employee conduct, performance, and conflict resolution. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a positive work environment by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and workers' compensation regulations. The role requires a proactive approach to managing employee relations, handling sensitive information with tact and discretion, and fostering a culture of trust and transparency.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Significant HR Generalist experience with an emphasis on employee relations
- Proven experience handling complex workplace complaints and conflict resolution
- Experience advising managers on performance management, policies, and procedures
- Independent decision-making and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of HRIS systems; Workday experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across various teams
- Thorough understanding of dispute resolution techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to employee and organizational issues
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion
- Knowledge of employment laws including FMLA, ADA, and workers' compensation regulations
- Experience in leave management and workers' compensation preferred
- Understanding of federal and state employment regulations
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Customer service orientation and relationship-building skills
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- Assist and advise managers on employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and recommending appropriate actions, including termination when necessary
- Provide guidance to managers and associates on conduct, performance, attendance, and conflict resolution matters
- Review and approve corrective and disciplinary actions, ensuring consistency and fairness
- Educate employees on company policies and procedures, and assist with related inquiries
- Review and advise on HR actions such as transfers, promotions, background checks, and onboarding processes
- Administer and manage leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, and personal leaves, ensuring compliance with applicable laws
- Manage workers' compensation claims from injury report to case closure, coordinating with healthcare providers and insurers to facilitate a smooth return-to-work process
- Monitor open injury cases and accommodations to ensure regulatory compliance and employee well-being
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze survey data to identify trends and develop strategic recommendations
- Respond to online reputation surveys on platforms such as Glassdoor and Indeed, maintaining a positive employer brand
- Perform periodic HR audits to ensure policy compliance and operational efficiency
- Manage associate recognition and tenure programs to foster engagement and retention
- Review and analyze job descriptions for appropriate classification, internal equity, and market competitiveness
- Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations, reviewing policies and practices regularly
