Chief Software Engineer / Lead Developer (Early-Stage Healthcare Tech Startup)
MedFlo AI is an independent technology organization built in close partnership with CommuniCare, one of the nation’s leading healthcare companies with 100+ locations in 7 states.
We’re an early-stage healthcare technology company building AI-powered systems that are transforming how healthcare facilities process and manage data. We’re looking for an exceptionally fast, creative, and hands-on Chief Software Engineer to take over technical leadership from the founding developer and guide the company through its next phase of rapid growth.
This is a high-impact, leadership role with a fast-paced transition from the founding engineer. You’ll be responsible for taking full ownership of our technical direction, leading a small but talented team (including multiple overseas developers), and driving execution across complex AI, data, and integration challenges. This position is based in our Ocean County, NJ office. An in-office schedule is required, though a hybrid arrangement may be considered. A competitive relocation package may also be offered for the right candidate.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the technical team, overseeing backend, frontend, and AI-related initiatives.
- Transition technical ownership from the founding developer and quickly ramp up on all systems.
- Architect, build, and optimize scalable AI and automation systems for healthcare data processing.
- Work hands-on to solve highly complex problems with speed and creativity.
- Oversee integrations with healthcare systems, APIs, and large-scale data pipelines.
- Collaborate with leadership on product direction, infrastructure decisions, and long-term technical vision.
What We’re Looking For
- Extreme technical speed and problem-solving ability — capable of understanding and improving complex systems rapidly.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor multiple developers, including overseas teams.
- Strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, Django, React, and JavaScript.
- Experience with AI systems, data scraping, or healthcare technology is a major plus.
- Deep understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and scalable cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Playwright or automated scraping workflows is highly valuable.
- A product-minded, proactive thinker who can work closely with business leadership.
